A particular airline will allow a "personal item" to be carried on but charges for everything else including normal sized backpacks. This particular backpack is small enough to qualify as a personal item and that was my reason for buying it.I was able to get two days worth of clothes and travel accessories in it but as mentioned, this is like a nylon bag. There's no internal structure to it. Also, the straps are not padded and very thin.So depending on your needs, this could be a good fit. It arrived all folded into its very small carrying bag. No way could I get it folded up to fit back into that, though.

I bought this bag to replace another brand bag that I had finally wore a hole into. I loved that other bag so this one had a lot to live up to. And honestly... It was exactly what I needed. So far I've only used it for day trips exploring in Japan, but it passed my tests and will on more adventures. There are plenty of pockets to organize your things like passport, coins, gifts, snacks, drinks, trash. The only drawback (why it's getting 4 stars) is that front pouch with the logo. The zipper to remove it overlaps another pocket zipper. So if you're using the pocket behind it, there is a risk of the front pouch falling off from getting unzipped. I almost lost it. It was hanging by a few zipper teeth on a train. Do not put anything important in that front logo pouch. It's safer to just take it off and leave it in your main luggage, or keep it in one of the other pockets inside the bag. Otherwise it's a great bag. It takes up no space in luggage which is a bonus.

I took this on a 2 week europe trip. It was with me basically the whole time. No complaints. I put everything tou can think of in it. Like many waterbottles, my camelback, etc. This works great. Highly recommended

Great to fold in itself for suitcase then open up for day pack use on my trip. I got black so it would be less visible in rental car. At end of trip easy to refold. I wouldn't suggest putting anything heavy like laptop in it or heavy water bottles in side pockets I just don't think it could handle it, but that wasn't what I wanted. So this was perfect for me. Carries my raincoat and small hydro flask inside with pocket for wallet and keys.
