KITCHEN KNIVES SHARP AS A NEW CUTCO KNIFE
The sharpening rods steel has a sharpening edge rated at 8,000. It's smooth when you run your fingers over it. It resets the extremely fine edge on my Cutco cutlery back to factory new condition. I have another premium set of cutleries from HSN with the brand name Ultrex. I was never able to get them razor sharp until I used this tool. Now cutting everything from tomatoes to watermelons and eggs and acorn squash is so much easier and enjoyable. I use the tool weekly to keep all the edges super fine, smooth, and effective. I tried other sharpening tools first but they made the knife edges to rough. I thank this manufacturer for making this superior tool. You must have high quality steel knives to get the benefit of this sharpening tool and if you work as much as I do in the kitchen it makes all the prep work so much easier. Learn how to use it properly ( it does take some time to develop the right hand motion) but once you got it you will smile everytime you use your super sharp knives. This is only for straight edge style knives and not any serrated style of cutlery.

Sharp knives! this is for you.
Great product, I wasted my time buying circular sharpening rods that just do not work. This thing is brilliant, all my knives are now extremely sharp and make prepping so much easier. Treat yourself and your knives.

A Sharpening Steel That Works....
This sharpening steel does any incredible job on my various kitchen, utility, and outdoor knives. Used a 'diamond coated' steel for years with lackluster results, so I wasn't sure if all sharpening steels gave similar results or perhaps my technique was lacking. What a difference this steel made! Now instead of having to return to my sharpening jig (the Russian made TSPROF) after my wife abuses a kitchen knife, I use this and wow......I can return the edge to a freshly sharpened state in a minute or so. Gives great results on high carbon and stainless alloys. Have not tried it on any of the powdered 'super steels' available today, but have used it on Japanese aogami blue and white steel knives with great results as well, though the Japanese makers recommend using stones for honing their steel.

Quality sharpener.
Only regret is the grit is really fine so I have to use a oil stone to establish a edge.

The round honing rods don't sharpen your knife, The are made for brief touchups. The various oval sharpening rods actually sharpen your knifes. Look up on YouTube the method of sharpening with this type of rod.Requires maintaining an approximate 20 degree angle and gradually reducing your pressure to almost nothing to take off the final burr. Much simpler than a flat grit stone which if done wrong can actually make your knife worse
