This is a high quality writing instrument.
This is a very comfortable pen to write with. Its weight has a positive effect on writing because of the fact that it is very well balanced. I would say it is very well designed. Being that itβs well balanced helps with writing speed & allows the user to develop their own personal grip. This pen is a great gift value for the money.

I couldn't get it to work at first, but now ππ»ππ»
I don't know if this was the case for the other reviewers but, right out of the box, I felt some gunk on the tip of the pen. Honestly, I wasn't sure whether that was supposed to be expected with "fancier" pens because I tested the two replacements and they were the same. It was like something crusted on top of it. I tried pulling it off and massaging dish soap on the tip to loosen whatever it was, but nothing seemed to work!I was literally about to write out my one-star review, when I thought that I better give it one more go with rubbing the tip on the paper's surface as if writing a back-and-forth line. Finally, whatever was blocking it broke off and the pen was writing beautifully. After testing the ink smearability (there's a little), I was ready for my review.Of course, the biggest reason for the star deduction is that if I gave this very attractive pen in it's very attractive packaging to someone as a gift and they had the same problem I did, they might very well throw it away without ever mentioning to me that they found the gift worthless. I'd hate for that to happen to someone (whether it be the giver or the receiver). And then the very slight smearability of the ink, though that's not much of a concern for me.Otherwise, the pen is one of quality when writing with it. I think it's the right weight and balance for my hand, both of which are more important than the pen's appearance. It is the kind of pen one can use proudly in a professional setting.

Well-built pen, smooth bold lines
I appreciate having a retractable ballpoint pen that can be refilled, so that's my bias. This good quality ballpoint comes with a blue and a black refill, in a nice box for gifting. As someone who is not a big fan of gel pens, this checked a lot of boxes for me. It's a beautiful pen, made of a smooth material with a lovely, cool feel. It feels well-made, and is well balanced. Retracting the pen is done by twisting it, which it does smoothly. The box is nice, giftable. It's the kind of box that is designed thoughtfully enough that you can pull off the well-fitting lid smoothly with one hand yet it has just enough resistance that you know it fits well. I'm basically going to store all my refillable pens in that box now!And yet I almost gave it a bad review to start, because my pen initially seemed to pull up paper fibers as it wrote, leaving those globs of ink occasionally if you know what I mean. After a little bit more use, though, it stopped. I wonder if it was a problem of the pen or how I was using it.The pen makes lovely, bold, smooth black lines, making writing with it a pleasure. My only other quibble with the maker is--do you really want to CALL it a "luxury" pen on the box in gold letters? The package and the pen itself should speak to its luxury. Does calling it that overtly help or hurt? I'm not a marketing expert, but my advice would be to have a descriptor somewhere in smaller print, like on a tag: "luxury pen set" but brand it in large print on the box with something else that speaks to luxury. but doesn't overtly state it. Again, I'm not a marketing expert. It's just that it feels like stating that overtly makes it seem more generic. It's still giftable, but I think the above changes would make it feel like more of a luxury gift. My 2 cents. Nice pen set.PS - after further use, I'm upgrading to 5 stars. I like this pen. It's a pleasure to use. Plus, they included 2 high quality refills of different color ink, something another luxury pen I bought recently didn't do. That's a thoughtful extra that deserves the extra star.
