The edge of the ribbon is the part that is bright.
Great product. The skinny edge is what is the lighted part. The wides side and back is bonded with a white rubber very flexible and looks and feels water proof. The ends are capped and maybe silicon dapp. You can also add electrical tape of heat Shrink over those area.I bought this one as it came with free power supply, but I had intentions to cut into the wire lead.It is rated for 12v automobile. I made bare wire connection right to 12 truck battery and it worked perfect and was perfect amber orange color to match my running lights.Warning it is warm to touch, and I kind wish the wide side had clear rubber binder. Seems like they used white to make it so you could make a fake neon sign lettering having a skinny light. I still love it and will buy this one again in red for another project. I have not poured water on it but if you heat shrink your connections I have a good feeling this could be used in water environment.

Came out great
Used the yellow & white to light up my sign. came out fantastic! Theres a guy in the reviews saying these lights can't be soldered... they absolutely can be. I haven't soldered in 15 years but was able to do it on these lights first try.Used some liquid electric tape on the ends to seal everything. Used parchment paper as a diffuser so you can't see the lines from the LED lights, used yellow film on the bulb & "electric" so theres some contrast during the day when the light is turned off.Hopefully it holds up.PS... I used a dewalt 20v battery to test lights as I soldered. It worked fine but after 3-5 minutes they get HOTTT. If you do that don't walk away. THe nice thing though, I'd put the 20v battery on for 8 minutes or so and it "baked" my lights into the shape I wanted. Useful for weird turns the lights don't wanna do.

Not good for soldering/modifying
The LEDs themselves look good. If you're looking to cut these and resolder them, they do not hold up to heat. The terminal pads fall apart, whereas other brands (see pic, the magenta strips) hold up fine, so I know it's not an issue with my soldering.Would not recommend

Nice lights but adapter not for outdoors
The lights look really good and work well. Bought as outdoor lights since that’s what the description said it was. Unfortunately the AC adapter included says right on it “indoor use only” and so I can not use them outdoors without spending more money for new adapters. Very disappointed

Can't believe it's a LED light strip.
Very effective in appearing to be real neon lighting. Vibrant color. No LED hotspots. Only complaint is I wish it came with more mounting clips.

Great for Orthocromatic Film as a Safelight --Very bright but no fog!
Bought it to cut down X-Ray film for large format camera and found it does not fog Ilford RC printing paper either!Very bright, but no fog.A+
