Mite Oxalic Acid Vaporizer v.03.25 - by Scott Bee Farm

I really like this product. I end up buying 3 of them to speed up the process for multiple hive. I also bought other cheaper Oxalic Acid Vaporizer looks similar to this. What I find out is that, this one works much better.There is a few reason why this one works better. Notice the main heating element is separate with the rest of the handle. That reduce the head transfer to the handle. The result is that the heating element heat up quicker.Another aspect of this heater is that, the heating element is a glow plug. It heat reduce the power when the element is heating up. The glow plug has a stable ending temperature. I find out other cheaper one has constant power heating element. I have a sensor can monitor the current usage during the heating process. In this regard, compare to the cheaper heater, this heater produce better result in shorter time to warm up the pot.

I have two of these and they work great, they fully vaporize 1/2tsp of OA in less than 2 minutes. It’s much quicker and thinner than some others I’ve used.The only improvement I would suggest to the manufacturer is that it would be nice if it had a crossbar to help maintain proper orientation, the cord is heavy duty which can rotate it once inserted into the hive.

I've used this vaporizer for a few winter OA mite treatments. Compared to Varrox wands I've used in the past, the wand is well constructed and works quite well. Instructions are well written and cover glow plug replacement. My only complaint is that it does not have a stabilizer. The cord tends to make it want to twist a bit. Otherwise, I'd say this is a five star vaporizer.

This vaporizer is easy to use, does not require opening the hive, was highly effective at killing mites (I have only used it so far for one season), and works best in cool weather when all bees are in the hive. Only downside is that it takes about 7 minutes for me to treat each hive. I have a small apiary, so that is not a problem.

Used it a week before i realized i needed something bigger. Takes forever to heat up and it splashes hot acid all over the enterance of the hive.

If you are a backyard beekeeper you will not be disappointed with this vaporizer. It is well made and works great. It takes me around 2 minutes and 30 seconds to sublimate 1/2 a teaspoon with a 12 volt car battery. For the money you will not find a better vaporizer than this one from Scotts Bee Farm. Includes a measuring spoon and instructions

This is an excellent product at an affordable price! Worked well to do my 2 hives. It took about 2:30 minutes to completely evaporate the Oxalic Acid, and it actually came with a dipper and instructions. The only small issue I had with it is that it doesn't lay flat on the bottom of the hive. It tends to twist/turn slightly and I'm afraid it makes all the acid slump to one side. I don't really think it makes a difference, as long as you're using your timer and keeping an eye on it like you're supposed to be.

I've used it once but it feels solid and worked well. My only issue is that it tends to twist when you put it into the hive. I'm currently looking for a way to prevent that.
