This is the 0.5mm I consistently reach for when doing homework or lots of writing.Simple construction and very well designed for function. You can tell this is the result of many years of designing pencils and then re-designing them based on user feedback. It has a nice thick grip with smooth plastic ribbing. The grip seemed like it might not be a good as a metal knurled grip but it's just right.It's light, which I prefer in a mechanical pencil. I've got several heavy German Rotrings and other expensive metal pencils but I don't like them as much as this $5 Japanese model. The lead advances via a button that has been placed just behind the thumb position. This means you don't have to change grips to advance the lead. It's not very pretty but very, very functional.It has a full size pencil eraser inside a cap to keep it fresh. The eraser serves as the top to the large lead compartment that could easily hold 100+ leads. I'm not sure what they could have done to make it better.
