The Last Boy in Auschwitz: A WW2 Jewish Holocaust Survival True Story (Heroic Children of World War II)

If you like history this is an amazing true story.
Great read. I’ve been to Auschwitz which was one of the stops on my tour in Poland. I am an avid reader especially of WWII topics. If you are easily bothered by detailed stories of history then make sure your Kleenex is nearby. The atrocities of that time were unbelievable. I couldn’t put this book down. Well written, detailed situations, but also some horrible revelations of what the Nazi’s did to the Jews is very well explained. It’s not a kids book. I thought it might be good if a teenage kid likes war stories but this is more for an adult who like me reads about WWII & Auchwitz especially.

Well written
It held my interest all the way through. Such courage! I'm so sorry for your suffering and honor your loved ones who were lost.

Interesting read
Very informative. Seemed a little short in some of the more personal details. Information was more widespread than directly personal.

great book
This is a stunning two-story of a young man who went through the holocaust and came out alive. Everyone should read this book.

transformative
I could not put this book down. It is an extraordinary story of Mjetek's survival (I feel, having spent time inside his head, that I can call him personally by name). He is forthright and fearless. I was astonished at how self-revealing he was, telling just what the psychic and physical experience was like for him--through multiple horrors and calamities, the disbelief and denial as anti-Jew rumblings began in Poland and people did not see what was coming and Run!, (should we not be learning this lesson now?), the transports, the camps, Auschwitz!, multiple grievous injuries and attacks, including having to endure anti-semitic attacks AFTER liberation, struggling to find himself in new roles after the war, the cruelty of the British Mandate, and the futile search for living family members. I felt I came to know the man who lived this story intimately. I want to call him on the phone and ask him how he's doing, how's his family, what are their plans for Passover. His ability to share what was going on inside himself--and how he dealt with his own behavior in intermittent positions of authority--was astonishing. I'm ashamed to say that much of his experience--the displacement camps, the blockage of ships and onboard attacks by the British of Jews just trying to find a home in Israel after the nightmare--was unknown to me. I am thrilled to know he now has grandchildren and great grandchildren. I wish it were possible to say Never Again and believe it.

Well worth reading!
I have read many books by Holocaust survivors over my 76 years...They are all different but most are heart wrenching and tis book is one.

Not much about Auschwitz.
If you are like me thinking of buying this book to read about the horrors of Auschwitz, then this is not the book for you. The title should really read the life and times of Moshe Mjetek Bomberg. But I guess that doesn't sell. The story is a bit disjointed in places but his life was way more interesting than mine has been. Not really sure why the book has rave reviews on Amazon. But hey it an Amazon review like this is.

The Last Boy In Auschwitz
Written very simply but an amazing personal story of survival. Moshe Bomberg is a testament to the strength of the will to live.

incredibly insightful
I’ve read many books of holocaust survivors, I enjoyed this one very much as it covered so much of his life after his release from the camp. I did not realize the difficulty these people still endured for many years following . This man was courageous beyond any words .

Moving
The odds overcome by Mjetek are simply mind-boggling.Especially poignant is he having to see the Munich Olympic massacre first hand after all that he's been through...God Bless Israel and her children

incredible story, well written, unbelievably sad
I read this in one evening, I couldn’t put it down. It’s one of those stories that totally captures you. To see the contrast of the depravity of mankind to the depth of caring is astounding. I can’t get it out of my mind. When I read such stories and see the news today I see that there is still such hatred in the world toward Jewish people and it perplexes me.
