Comfort
I like how easily and comfortable they feel when you slip them on your arms. I was very appreciative of how well padded they are. This allowed my wife to hold them for me so I could practice my punches and kicks. I've even started training my 8-year old daughter and she absolutely loves hitting them!

You get what you pay for
Foam is thick enough that it will protect you from impacts, sure. But it is super light and there is an insane rebound when you use it. Punches will reverberate on my arms and it doesn’t feel good at all.All of the Thai pads that I have used in classes, etc are 10x heavier with denser foam, and much better at impact absorption. Of course, those are also $100+ new.I wanted to try a cheaper version first since it had good reviews. If you can’t afford more and MUST get something, I suppose these will do. But one my area, one group class is $30-40, so it’s worth investing in a $120 set of Thai pads for practice at home.

Good pads for starting out
These are pretty good pads. They absorb impacts well so nothing hurts. They're a little stiff, but they might break in over time.

Easy to use, good absorption, not uncomfortable for the wearer
The shell material for these is rugged enough to handle more than a few punches and should be reasonable to clean sweat off as well. You can extend the life of it by some tape wrap, although I'd only bother if you plan on heavy use. The foam is very high density, it will absorb the impacts very well without letting too much force thru. I'm actually tempted to find a way to mount to a stand for solo work.
