A luxury that quickly becomes a necessity.
Best product I have bought in a long time! I thought this was a cute idea but it's almost a necessity once you get used to it. It keeps my coffee the perfect temperature to the last drop! The temperature is adjustable and the readout on the front can have your name show up (you put it in from your app) - also helps with knowing whose cup is whose. I originally bought for my RV but now use it in both my house and for travel. Seems to charge quickly if I have forgotten to place it back on the charger. I am extremely careful to not have the bottom of the cup be wet before setting onto the charger (per manufacturer advice if you want it to last) so be careful of that. I don't find it difficult to wash as I only drink black coffee and tea in it. It has reduced the mugs that we used to use during the day to zero because we each use and then wash our own. What I thought was a definite luxury item has quickly become my necessity. Great product. I hope it lasts a long time.

Luke Warm'ish Coffee & TERRIBLE Controls
This is stated on the Amazon page but I missed the significance of it. The top temperature is 140 degrees. For perspective, Keurig dispenses coffee around 165 or more and searching revealed that many "coffee experts" recommend hotter than that. 140 just isn't hot enough to be enjoyable. The controls are a case study in form over function. They are beautifully embedded into the cup. Personally, I can't imagine a better aesthetic. Working them, however, is a nightmare. Just getting them to show up is a challenge much less operate them. These two fatal flaws compound. The controls are a bit better and somewhat manageable after about 20 minutes when your coffee has cooled to lukewarm. In the meantime, they are virtually impossible. So, here's how it goes:1) Insert wonderfully piping hot coffee2) Have absolutely no control over anything and just have to wait3) At some point, take a sip and notice that your coffee is outright cold.4) Now you can, with luck, get the controls to come on and tell it to reheat your coffee up to 140 degrees. If you have access to a microwave during your coffee enjoyment, it is FAR easier and better tasting to use a regular mug and just nuke your coffee for 30 seconds if it gets cold.I strongly recommend against wasting your money and this flawed device.Manufacturer:I LOVE the idea of this mug. Please crank it up to 160 or more max degrees and put some actual controls on it. It's OK if they aren't perfectly beautiful. The first priority is that they work. (In other words, step up, stop letting attorneys and product designers run your company. Re-take control and prioritize customer experience and operations.)If you make those changes, I'd buy it and would, I admit, pay even more for it.

save your money
I wanted to like this mug, I really wanted this to be a great product... unfortunately my experiences with it have been lack luster and ultimately I'd recommend you spend less on something else. The Ember Travel Mug2 is sold at a premium price, however, it is NOT a premium product.I bought my Travel Mug2 on February 12th 2021 (less than 2 months owning it at the time of this review). in that time I've discovered that the marketing on this product and the experience of actually owing it are in start contrast.First let's talk about the battery life, their claim is that it will keep your hot beverage hot for 3 hours. I found this to be far from the truth.Battery life claim: 3 hoursActual: ~1.5 hours @ 140degreesEmber's support confirms this experience is as expected, "With a set temp of 140 degrees, your Ember may have a slightly shorter battery life"The next issue I had was finding that the mug would randomly turn off. The mug has an liquid sensing feature that detects if the mug is empty. The way it detects the liquid is through temperature differentials. If there isn't a significant enough delta between your coffee/tea and the desired temp set on your coffee then the mug will automatically turn off. so if you pour your coffee/tea into the mug and run out of the house there is a possibility that your mug may turn off and your coffee will be cold. It boggles my mind why they have not included an override for this so that an owner can turn the mug on and off manually so that they are in control and can be assured that the mug is indeed keeping their liquid at the desired temperature. The last thing that I'll say is that after about a 2 months of owning this, the lid stopped functioning. The Travel Mug2 has a lid with a mechanical "plunger" that you push down to open and close. Press once it clicks open, press it again and the lid clicks shut. Unfortunately mine stopped opening, which is the straw that broke the camels back and is what prompted this review. I'm sure support will send me a new one, but that's beside the point. The fact that the lid broke after 2 months, the mug is very finicky and the battery life is roughly half of what they claim leads me to a point where I can say that this is a product that needs a lot more work. I personally would not buy it again nor can I recommend it to anyone. there are a lot of other cheaper heated travel mugs out there that you could buy 2-3 of knowing they will break before you get to spending $180.If $180 is a drop in the bucket for your budget, then go for it. But for me, I viewed $180 as a luxury item I was buying myself. Keep in mind $180 is ~1/5th of what a new iPhone costs, 1/5th of the price of an item that has almost unlimited uses and brings immense value to my life. This mug has one job and it does it poorly.
