It counts as jewelry...
I got this for my wife for Christmas. I expected it to go in with her camping gear... but sure enough she loves it and wears it out grocery shopping and with casual wear. It is a little big on her. She wears the compass side down and the black paracord looks good. For the price this is a very useful item.
