Art and science meet
I love the simplicity of the Galileo Thermometer. This is a nice version and works as designed. Like most inexpensive Galileo thermometers, the base is not much wider than the column, so you want to place it away from areas where it could be inadvertently knocked over. But, otherwise this looks great and is a nice low tech gadget.

Make sure you read the dimensions before you buy
I had one on display that I accidentally broke. But it was a lot taller than this one it’s on display as well only a lot smaller.

Beautiful and Accurate!
I've always admired these fun and functional glass thermometers so I'm happy to have one of my own! I was concerned about the possibility of breakage in transit, but the packaging was very thorough so it arrived intact! It is accurate compared to our indoor thermostat. It is beautiful and works perfectly!

Super cool and looks nice enough to have on display
I think these are super cool, and was excited to get one to try out. It looks great, and is made from a single piece of glass with multiple glass balloons filled with various colors floating in it. I have mine next to a digital thermostat, and it's been surprisingly accurate, lagging the thermostat by only about a degree. When the temperature gets above the displayed temp on the lowest floating balloon, that balloon starts to sink. All floating? it's colder than it can measure. All resting on the bottom? Hotter than it can measure. The balloons are in 4°F increments from 64 to 80, which should work out well for most homes. This review was for "La Crosse 914-4928 11-inch Glass Galileo Thermometer"

Good nerdy gift or decor!
These Galileo thermometers are of course antiquated - but that's probably not the reason you want one. I work in a tech/science industry and hang one in my office for the nerd cred. It looks good and came well packaged and protected. They also teach a pretty cool science lesson if you have kiddos, or want to put one in some sort of science classroom or learning space. It's pretty readable from a few feet away once you know how to read it.

Such a fun and neat item!
I had never played around with a Galileo thermometer before so I had a blast learning and using this! It is accurate and looks beautiful on my mantle. Not only is this a nice piece of decor, but a fun conversation starter that is sure to peak the interest of anyone who enjoys science. Well sealed in it's box to ensure it arrived safely.

Nice dual purpose thermometer...
I got this to put in my guest bedroom as a nice decorative object and to help tell the temperature of the room to any guests that stay here. It's a simple design with floating inserts that raise and lower with the change in temperature and is easy to read. It is a bit fragile and I don't recommend it in houses with kids or big animals that might bump into it as it will likely shatter and leave a wet mess with shattered glass in it. Otherwise if you're in the market for one for yourself or as a gift, I say grab it on sale and it'd be a good value.
