Rubie's Costume Women's Nun Costume

The costume is large enough that it should fit any size. The fabric is very stretchy and flexible so even though it was much wider than me it didn't look like it was way too big when I wore it. The size made it very easy to wear clothes under it, this is a major plus if you live in a cold area. I am 5'8 and it was long enough, so if you are shorter you'd want to belt it up higher or hem/cut the bottom.I especially liked the white hood that goes under the black head covering. It goes over your head and around your neck. I think it makes it look more authentic than just having a white band on top like most other costumes I looked at. The black part has an elastic band that goes behind your head to keep it on. Since the two parts are separate you could also remove the white hood if you get too warm, the top white band is attached to the black part so it would still look pretty good. It also comes with the cross pictured, but it is bigger in person so you might not want to wear it all night.It comes with a few headbands made to wear across the forehead part that say something like "nunsense." You don't have to use these, I didn't. My only complaint is that the Velcro on the side of the head that the headbands are meant to stick to makes the sides stick out like wings so you have to pin the black fold to the white band. It's an easy fix, but if they left out the silly headbands they wouldn't need the Velcro at all.Overall this is a great choice if you are going for a versatile, easy to put on and comfortable costume.

I wore this costume to a Halloween costume this year and EVERYONE LOVED IT!!! People wanted their pictures taken with me!!! It was hilarious! I didn't use the silly phrases that comes with this costume which you can place (Velcro) on the white crown piece though, that's just not my style. My boyfriend wore the Wandering Gunman costume and I was obviously Sister Sarah (re the Clint Eastwood "Fistful of Dollars" series). That being said, this costume is easy to put on. You can wear street clothes underneath (I wore all black under mine) and not be overheated with the costume over it because it is very thin fabric. I read reviews on this before I bought it and some people had trouble with the head pieces staying in place. Not so with mine. I just pulled all my long hair back in a pony tail and put everything on and it stayed in place all night long. We went out to a club after the party and I even sang on stage (my friend was performing and asked me to sing with him)! The audience was pretty quiet at first, thinking I was a REAL nun!!! Lots of funny looks in the car driving around, too!!! HILARIOUS!!! I would recommend this costume to anyone. It is roomy and authentic looking from a distance and is actually fairly well sewn together. I will keep this for another party or costumed event. Good for the price.

This was a great costume. The gown was very roomy and comfortable. I was a little concerned that I had read somewhere that it was a size 14 and that is what size I wear, but there was plenty of fabric. It wasn't clingy at all.The only downside to the costume was the head piece. There didnt' seem to be anything to attach it to your head. There were two straps, but they weren't long enough to tie. I ended up using a safety pin. If there was velcro on the straps that would have made it super easy to attach.

I purchased this for Halloween along with a Priest costume. I was not sure which I was going to be and also, I figured, it would not hurt to have an extra costume on hand in case another friend was out of ideas and needed something to wear.Well, I received both less than a few days apart. At a small party with my closest friends, I tried on both and the overwhelming response was to wear this one.I can gratifyingly say IT WAS A VERY BIG HIT at all of the parties I attended that night. I went to four different Halloween parties and had my picture taken at least 50 times as the night progressed.I wore it plain, as it does come with some funny headbands (NUN FOR YOU, NUN OF YOUR BUSINESS etc.). I also enhanced it with a set of rosary beads and a cross I had gotten from my grandmother.The costume is very light, so it is excellent to wear over regular clothing. This way, if you want to go to the party and put it on at the last minute you can do so with ease.That being said, the material is of sheer nylon (no, you cannot see through it) and the headdress is easy to take on and off. It appears to be machine washable, but because I wore regular clothing underneath it the one night that I wore it, I simply hung it outside for a few hours to get all of the cigarette smoke (the parties I went to were at four bars in the same neighborhood (Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea) within walking distance of where I was staying) out of it.It looks very authentic and I would highly recommend purchasing it if you do not intent to wear it often.

Just received this and tried on the gown for size. I ordered the standard size, am 5' 2", 130 pounds. Plenty of room for me and slacks and a shirt underneath. A few inches too long, but I'm short. Sleeves are also long, but it's un-hemmed polyester and can easily be cut. Haven't tried to get the headpiece and collar on yet. But they look fine. Seems to be a perfect costume for $14.
