Abba - The Movie [DVD] [2005]

Delivered in mint condition. Very happy. For ABBA fans only though, not exactly a gripping storyline but tremendously nostalgic!

Made to replace a tour while Agnetha got pregnant, this film weaves concert footage and the band's experience in Australia with a slim storyline about a reporter trying to get an interview. If you are a fan, you will love it. It is sweet and whimsical as ABBA liked to be seen. And, in part, this is a true reflection of how the band is. If you are expecting deep insight and "answers", you'll be watching the wrong film. If you want to see ABBA in concert and various scenes of them sweetly publicising the tour, it does capture a moment in ABBA history that has only recently been matched by the ABBATAR concerts in London and the fans joy at the band's reawakening. Taken in the correct spirit, this is a very enjoyable film. And feel good us the best way to describe it. We need a bit of that in our lives.

I saw this film on the big screen when I was a kid, I saw it again on the big screen last month for its anniversary. It's a snapshot in the history of the group, some great concert footage and interview footage and a humourous story to tie it altogether. If you're a fan or you're interested in the group get this.

Saw this years ago and wanted to see it again. Dvd played fine.

If you love Abba or you know someone who does then you need to buy this DVD. I saw this movie on TV many years ago and always said I would buy it once I got a DVD player. Well the moment I got one I ordered this and haven't looked back since. It is such a feel good movie and it plays all their great songs as they travel on their various tours all over the world. Tom Oliver who played Lou in Neighbours plays 3 characters in the film which seems weird but it works really well. Its a great story where a journalist is set a task to get an interview with Abba on their tour. You see him travelling all over the place and eventually he gets his interview with them. Its quite comical in places but such a good watch.

I saw this in the cinema in 1977. Sadly, unlike ABBAs music, the film is very dated. The 'special effects' accompanying 'I'm a Marionette' I found almost embarrassing. Picture quality was good in places but the sound on the Blueray version (LPCM 5.1) lacked punch which was my biggest disappointment.
