Love this movie

Seems like most of the bad reviews are from people receiving messed up dvds or the movie not downloading properly. Some technical issue. But the movie was really good and the acting was as well. There were some lessons to be learned in this movie. GOD loves everyone

This is a fabulous movie. It is a comedy about a young African American man who works in an advertising agency in New York. It is not uncommon for him to lie to get ahead. He is very ambitious. His lies are found out and he is fired from his job. Meantime his Aunt who lives in the deep south dies and leaves him an inheritance. When he gets there he finds out there are strings attached to the inheritance. He must lead the choir in her church to win the state contest for all church choirs. The problem is though he was raised a Christian he has not followed the Lord for many years and the people in the choir are terrible singers (all but a few). He goes to great lengths to find people in the church to join the choir, then tries the community and eventually even takes a couple of guys from prison to help him reach his goal. Cuba Gooding Junior, Beyonce, T-Bone and other great singers are in this story. Not only is there a lot of hilarity in this movie, there is lots of great music and a love relationship that forms between Cuba and Beyonce. The message in this movie is for people to return to God and it pokes fun at religiousness. I myself am a Christian and it does not offend me. Sometimes there is hypocrisy in the church and we need to learn to laugh at ourselves.

What is the reason for taking this movie off of Prime without any notification! I was literally watching it!The movie is awesome, but I'm super mad at Amazon! I need someone to respond asap from Amazon. I will be sending an email!

The entire movie was great, but I especially liked how not being so judgemental caused a lot of souls to start attending church/return to church and perhaps one day turn their entire life over to the Lord. The one thing that was distasteful and could have been omitted was when the guys were driving down the street and saw girls walking down the street with daisy dukes on showing their bodies and the guys were acting like animals. The movie would have still been great if that scene were left out.

This movie hits on many levels, not just entertainment. It makes you look at your own motives in life and to realize what is really important. Brings back the small town church feel. Good movie to bring up your spirits and the songs are very catchy and soothing. I can't recommend this movie, enough!

This is well worth a watch/buy. Its a lovely plot, amazing cast, I've seen this film many times. Well worth purchasing, I can't recommend it enough

LOVED it the first time I saw it. Still love it every time I re-watch. Beyonce is beautiful (and young!) - fun to hear her sing gospel, and in a much more simpler style of music. Cuban G. is fun and funny. The O'Jay's are still amazing, with their barbershop rendition of "Love Me Like a Rock", and a fun funky, rap, laid back new take on "Down By the Riverside". Another film which may not have been released in France?

Cameo appearances by great soul and gospel stars from the seventies to the noughties. Real sharp one liners, fantastic singing and stage performances.

I originally had this DVD a long time ago but somehow it got lost. It was such a friendly sit back and relax movie that I really missed it. Therefore bought another copy as soon as possible. its great.
