Systematic Theology

This refreshing yet orthodox look at systematic theology is a delight to read or just to consult. S.T. books often cover the same subjects but the author has attacked this wide range of issues in a quite different way and offers academic insight into a number of areas that open up the scriptures and help you think too. What is absolutely delightful about this volume is the lack of deterministic bias!. This is the fifteenth S.T. that I have worked through and is certainly among the best of them. I think that this volume will be a mainstay in my library over the years to come and I particularly commend it to you along with volumes by Williams, Yong, Finger & Carter.

I'll admit it right now: ANYTHING by A. C. Thiselton is going to be a goldmine of theological wisdom. What I love about this great man's work is his vast and relentless saturation in the Western Philosophical and Theological Tradition. He is a theological version of the Swiss Army Knife - a dizzying array of practicalities, some of which we don't even know we needed, but in good time, we find we do!!Thiselton's range is exceptional, his gift to the church and world incalculable, and yet, I suppose I should offer a critique: Here we go: Some of the references in this ST are dated to his coming-of-age era, which is a small quibble, but a more balanced inclusion of recent (last 30 years) scholarship would have been very helpful (he's still a genius)!!!Nevertheless, you guessed it, I'm a fan, but not by blind allegiance - this scholar is worth buying his entire corpus and in so doing, you will swim in deep waters.

You can read it quickly and use it as a quick reference but it’s brevity means it does not give detailed exegetical reasons.
