This is a great album that mixes world music with contemporary grooves/beats. It definitely leans heavily towards the world music category with the use of the Indian sitar,tabla and shakere but the musicians use the above mentioned sitar plus flute and trumpet to solo over an infectious mix of world percussion/grooves with the tabla used to an almost hypnotic effect on some of the tracks.The sitarist shows great dexterity and delivers some quite complex solos,the trumpet is laid back and mellow which benifits this style of music and the flute has a breathy haunting quality which sends the music in a different direction.You may expect to find this kind of album being produced by Indian musicians but no - Mukta are of european origin which makes it all the more encouraging that they should tackle a project of this nature.As welcome as a breath of fresh air on a 100 degrees summers day.Need i say more.
