This burner replaced an older, inexpensive coil type burner. This is really nice, low profile, very sturdy no wobbliness at all, burner is nice size. My spouse uses these burners a lot, she is Korean and makes a lot of soups, etc., and its common to leave the bottom simmering while eating it hot and fresh, its actually quite important to her. And she, is very happy. Seriously, its important for these burners to be stable, if its wobbly its super dangerous, if you have bigger dogs, it is a problem - NOT with this burner. Build quality is nice. It is a basic unit, a knob to turn to different levels, an indicator light, that's it, but it works great. The burner is super flat, pans sit perfectly, even somewhat larger pans, this is because the diameter of the burner is slightly larger (7 inches) than some, which have 6, it sounds silly, but that does make a difference, in this case, size does matter.

This is better than just a party use , infrequent few times a year buffet use. It has a solid feel and good control for its price range. It is best used for cooking soups, making stocks, simmering, keeping food at safe temps.. It is not real fast. That is why I did not go five stars,. There is nothing wrong with it but some might be disappointed that it won't race to top heat fast for saute. You can't crank out omelet after omelet or something like that. But as a daily cooker its fine, you can trust it to keep the heat where you set it, not like some that are erratic

This was rated at 1000 watts like many other portables, but it honestly takes forever to make a pot of coffee on it even after letting it heat up on high for 15 minutes first. I only use it to boil small quantities of water as in a Moka pot or small Turkish coffee pot (ibrik) in my office, which takes 10 minutes to begin to froth-up after a lengthy pre-heating. So basically I need to plan about 30 minutes ahead of time for a cup of coffee. Maybe the small pots don’t have the surface area to be efficient on the hot plate. Who knows?

Nice little burner felt solid quality built. however it was advertised to be 800 watts. I measured it with a multimeter and it above 960 watts on setting five. Also once we got the box it said it right there on it 1000 watts. We need it for camping it is to powerful. Maybe if we upgrade our system. But great for any home 120 outlet

Solid Product, Works as Advertised, Slow, but good. I think I would like something more powerful. I am use to fast microwave, this is normal cooking with pot. Five Stars for everyone looking for a high quality burner. 4 Stars for anyone that wants super fast heat like gas. I recommend. Daniel In Dallas

Only giving four stars because it does take quite some time to heat up and doesn't stay consistently at a temperature. It was sufficient until our stove came in. Just don't try to cook pasta or things that require boiling water.

I bought this for my RV as a back up for when I am out of propane. I got what I expected and what I paid for.

I was hoping I would like this but, I love it. I ordered this for our hotel room to cook bacon and etc. Tried it first at home, first just boiling water...worked then tried cooking chicken nuggets ... worked perfectly. Nice and sturdy, "feels" safe. Gets pretty hot (which I wanted) and it took a little bit longer to cool down. pretty happy I bought it

Seems a bit slow on fully heating up but once there works well.
