It takes two with patience!
It’s tough putting it up all by myself, holding and twisting. The first time failed, second time it came off, but third times a charm, with some help.It stayed and lasted three years holding three small pots one of it is cast iron, then I moved. Easy to uninstall too, I kept it just in case and maybe because the lengths I need are different, it is being use at my new place too.

As described by everyone else
[ORIGINAL 9/14/21] As others mentioned, the screws tighten over the rods so it will leave dents. I can see how it would be easier with two people, though I was able to assemble by myself for ~32" length between a bookshelf and the wall. I didn't want to risk heavy items so I put a couple of bags, a helmet, and a couple of light boxes on it that just barely spanned the shelf's width. Some people complained about having only two rods versus five rods spanning the entire length, but what you see is what you get. I think I saw someone put this shelf in a space where one rod had to be shorter than the other, so it's versatile. I like it enough that I plan to get another one.[UPDATE 10/28/21] Suddenly in the middle of the night it fell. It's been about six weeks and there was less than 15# of items spread across the shelf. I just put it up again after work this evening. If it falls again, it might not be worth it to put up the shelf every 6 weeks![UPDATE 1/16/22] I went out to attend something and when I came back the shelf was down. It has been about 80 days since I last put it up. This time I just put light things on it (see photo of yoga blocks, dish pan, empty tote) and will report if it falls. But yeah, not sure how others are able to put detergent on it or simply toss things on it (I place the items gently). I want to buy another one because the concept is great but should try another brand/seller.

Sturdy
I mounted this above my kitchen sink, between two cabinets, to use as a dish draining shelf. It has held up without budging at all.It can be a bit tricky to install solo bc you have to hold it in place while screwing the included bolts into the metal tube. Note that the installation means the sharp screw will make a hole in the tube (not visible) so be sure the placement is correct before installing.

great shelf, but need a friend if you want this set up quickly
This thing is a BITCH to set up by yourself...you need at least 3 arms. One holding the shelf end into the wall, one keeping the constantly-sliding-in-and-out tension rods held tightly to the other wall, and one twisting the fasteners to tighten the whole thing in place. This is definitely a two person job, it took me like three days of trying, giving up, and throwing it into the corner and walking away, before somehow I finally got it up. Beware if you live alone, you need someone on hand to help you get this in place or you're in for a frustrating ride. However, once you get it up and it's secure (and level, ugh) it literally doesn't move and it's a great product! I have things on the shelf portion and I have hangers holding a couple of jackets I wear most frequently on the open rods. One is leather, the other is suede, and combined with the storage boxes on the shelf portion, this thing is fantastic and super locked into place even when holding some heavy-ish jackets. It ain't going nowhere. And thank god because if I have to put it up again by myself I will scream.

Gained some storage space!
We live in a shoebox condo and I'm always looking for ways to gain more storage in any spot I can. While restocking TP on the top shelf of our linen closet, I noticed that we still had a good foot of vertical space available to us. It would be difficult to reach for regular stuff but it would be nice for things like light bulbs or lesser used items. I didn't want to drill into the walls if I didn't have to so this tension rod shelf was the perfect solution. Now we store bulbs, wipes, extra rolls of TP, etc in space that wasn't previously used and were able to put away all of the little things stacking up outside of the closet. It's been up for a month with no issues. You do need to make sure you situate it where you need it to go and do as much tightening for a solid base. Once you do that, it should be good to go. May get a few more to utilize under the stair storage.

Decent, not Awesome.
I like this product, but I don't love it. The instructions aren't great, but its fairly straightforward. To set the length of the bars you're basically screwing a pointed screw into the metal rod. It damaged the inner rod - dents it up, scratches it... If you get the length a little off the first few times you just have damaged rod sticking out. This also impacts how easy it would be to reuse in a different space, and leaves me with serious reservations about the shelf stability.I know it's approved for about 40lb but I am not comfortable putting that kind of weight on these shelves. After about 20lb it starts to slip, no matter how tight I make the tension. Its also annoying that there is no option to have the three inner rods don't extend to the full length of the shelf. And finally, the metal and plastic look isn't really my style. Its kind of hospital vibes. So far, however, the shelves are doing their job. They create storage in a spot that I've been struggling to use for years. So, for that alone, I am happy.

Good but not the strongest
It was good for what it’s worth but it’s not the strongest quality

Easy to install
I like how this tension rod is easy to install and can hold a lot of our clothes and pants! No drilling and no screws on the wall which what I like so no need for repair when I move. Also, I like how I can still put things on top without having to add shelves!

Does the job
We got these tension shelves after moving to an apartment with very little storage. Currently we are using one at the very top of our hallway closet to create a little extra space to eventually hold our camping gear. The shelves were easy to put together, shipped quickly, and seem to be very sturdy for what they are. If you're in a pinch, I would recommend it.I do wish they were slightly less expensive, given that they seem to be made primarily if plastic and aluminum.

Closet Shoe Organization Idea
Needed a shoe rack for my tiny closet, and this worked for organizing my shoes (and other stuff). I like how I don't have to buy a big shoe shelf; this extension shelf makes my shoe organization very minimal and chic looking! Pretty straightforward to set up. However, since the rack bars do not extend the entire length of my closet, I'll just fill the gap btw the two bars with shelf liner.

Not sturdy at all
Seeing other reviews I thought this could work. Only planned on putting a small plant or pot up there for the kitchen.Even with 2 people to install; one holding the rod, the other screwing the extender in place, it still slides off the wall. Only enough to keep small hand towels up. Wasn't going to put anything heavy up there, but expected it to hold more than a little shake or pressure.

Does the job
When I pulled these from the box I was disappointed ad they looked cheap. I bought the extra long ones, and I couldnt see how they would stay up. Then I realized that when you screw in the extenders, it actually cuts into the metal bar to hold. This makes a big difference.Since I didn't have any one to help my hang, I put a couple rows of trim in the wall with drywall screws at the right height so the feet could 'sit' on something while increasing the tension. I highly recommend this. Less frustrating and it gives some extra permanent support. This isn't a heavy duty shelf for sure, but if you're hanging some clothes and accessories it does the job. With the extra long one I bought, 72", I wouldn't put anything much more than towels or folded clothes on top.
