As I sit atop this field of victory (office chair mat), I count the cost in cat lives, many of which were lost during the opening of a mysterious parcel I received only just today (I joined Absinthe Monthly a fortnight ago; forgot a great many things in that time).To the witness drunkards out there, it is NOT a giant straw, but, in fact, a curled up flat thing. It has a merry ribbon around its midwardship that I was compelled to cut (having recently binge watched Peeky Blinders) and then...… basically, I wondered if the delivery driver had given me the wrong box and rather than 'Mostly Harmless Office Chair Mat' they'd accidentally supplied me with the 'Non-Atomic Hiroshima Simulator' instead, because AS SOON as you sever the last thread of that merry ribbon, there is a massive bang and no cats.Perhaps you don't have cats and you think this is nothing to do with you? Hmm?What if your grandparents have brought your great-grandparents around for a joint 100th birthday party, and all they want is a bit of peace and quiet - then one of them thinks the parcel is theirs?They will die and you will go to jail! Or the other way around!I would suggest moving old people, the anxious, the infirm, the unform and Vietnam vets into a box until deployment.Apart from that, and the cost of bribing back my feline friends with Dreamies, this thing is a beast. We all know plastic's a problem in the world, but in this case (as in most other cases) forever means forever.Don't ever think of sending it back unless you're a Black Belt in both gymnastics and ribbon-tying.MARK MY WORDS!

Yes, this chair mat is slightly more expensive than some of its competitors but well worth spending the extra in my opinion. I have had cheaper versions in the past - they tend to be thin and the chair wheels dig grooves in the plastic over time, before it finally disintegrates completely. This mat is very substantial - has pronounced spikes to grip the carpet so it doesn't constantly go 'walkies' like my last one did. The chair runs smoothly over the mat, with virtually no resistance whatsoever, and unlike some other reviewers, I have not, so far, noticed the chair causing any white marks on the surface.Although it's early days, it appears that this mat is destined to last a lot longer than any of the others I have bought, so justifying that extra expenditure.

This is my 2nd purchase of this 'type' of mat. My previous one was slightly more expensive and after two years started to curl at ends and crack under the feet. Having said all that I think these mats are brilliant because otherwise my carpet would have been ruined by my office chair.I'm optimistic about this one and hope it will last at least as long HOWEVER my one grumble would be that after one day literally there are white marks all over it. See photo's - I've decided I have created a tree like design! I'm more interested in how long it will last and will it continue to do the job so this will be updated in due course. This one is described as frosted to me has a 'milky' colour to it. The material seems softer than my last one (less brittle) The chair moves freely and it does the job. I therefore like it but the marks? Is there a tonnage limit to these mats causing that problem. Wouldn't be without one of these mats they do the job well in protecting carpet.

We are very pleased with this mat and feel that we can now give a review having used it for several weeks. Our carpet was becoming a bit thin where we kept moving the chair over it so, after reviewing several brands, we decided on this one. It is a good quality mat, nice and thick and opaque in colour. There are little spikes on the bottom of the mat which grip the carpet well (even our thin bit!) and the textured surface allows the chair to move easily over it without slipping and sliding. The edges are not curling or cracking as some reviews said about other mats. This is a really good mat which does the job it was designed to do and I would definitely recommend this item.

Have used this product now for a couple of days here's some initial thoughts.I'm not the lightest guy in the world (but far from the heaviest) and I do a lot of work at my desk. A chair mat of a different material just didn't do the job and slid everywhere - and damaged my carpet underneath. Unimpressed, I purchased this mat in the hope it would end my frustrations.It's certainly done just that. It's a decent size and has gripped my carpet very well. I haven't seen it move once yet and my carpet is pretty much barebones underneath where the previous mat was, so it hasn't much to cling to. So in this department I am very impressed.I am however slightly dismayed to see that this mat has marked in several places already after two days of use. This could be down to the weight and the chair and myself but I was kind of hoping it would last a little longer before showing such obvious marks. That being said, as long as it doesn't crack and break I can handle marks. I'm sure what's left of my carpet appreciates it too!Long story short, it's a solid little mat that clings well and protects the carpet underneath - but may well be a little fragile to marking.Recommended.

The mat arrives rolled up. It took two of us just to start it unrolling, it was very tightly rolled, and looked as though it had been rolled up for a very long time. After eventually getting it unrolled, and after three days of flattening out with heavy furniture, it is still not laying flat, but, usable. It is very strong. and it has not cracked, so the material itself seems great, but once rolled up, it is compromised.
