Excellent illustrations
Very interesting for our 6 year old. He loves the moon and its phases and this book explains it very well. I would recommend this book to all young scientists.

Very informative for readers already familiar with moon phases
This book was very informative! My 10 year old son with autism absolutely loves moon phases and I have a degree in science education. I loved the language and descriptions of the moon phases and found the information to be accurate. It gives a lot of information other books do not with simple enough language for an upper elementary student. The pictures were beautiful too and my son loved them. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because some pages had pictures of different moon phases than being described. My son even pointed this out. I would be worried that kids/people learning about the moon phases for the first time may not connect the visual to the correct information. I also wish they would have described what it means to be tidally locked since it was referenced twice. This is a great book for someone who already knows the stages of the moon visually and can see the information not matching up with the pictures. The use of pictures in this book would not teach what each phase looks like very well. I did appreciate the deeper description this book provided beyond learning the phases visually.

Appalling - do not buy
This is a terrible book and should not be on sale. The crucial review to see, which I wish I had read before buying, is Jin Eldon's on Amazon.com at https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/B0739VSGS4/R2LH42SLATLQDZ?ref=pf_vv_at_pdctrvw_srp - this pretty much nails it. The pictures are horrendously chosen and edited (that is, simply wrong in many cases) and the text has presumably been knocked together from online sources so it's vaguely OK but hasn't been thought about too much - for example we are told twice that the moon is tidally locked but without the merest hint what this is. Note that no credit is given for authorship - who wrote this book? This book might look pretty but it lets its readers down badly. Find a children's science book that does its job properly, or find a nice storybook with lovely pictures, but do not inflict this mess on any child you know. I am returning my copy for a refund and have formed a strong, perhaps unchangeable, impression of the Baby Professor brand and what it stands for.
