Don't miss these books
She is a wonderful author with the ability to connect individual threads that weave a rich tapestry of people and emotion! The 6th book was as rich as the previous 5 and I'm looking forward to reading all that she has written. You'll be glad you did if you do too!

An amazing survival
How improbable a man can survive being abandoned on a frozen Atlantic island after a plane crash, for a whole year, and figure out a way to be rescued! A very intriguing story!

Inspiring read. Favorite author, favorite series. Great characters, inspiring stories, well-edited.
This review is for the Series: Absolutely inspiring -- every book in the series! -- well-developed characters, and wonderful story lines -- all stand-alone novels (though most are more meaningful if read in order) -- and very different kind of read. Earlier, I had read 3 of these books, out of sequence, and loved each one so much that I decided to start with the first and read them in order. While definitely stand-alone reads, there is some cross-over in some of the stories that made the reads much richer. I loved reading them straight through from 1-12. I will read #13 next and any that Ms MacLean adds to the series. This is a very special series, and the stories touched my heart.Great character development, inspiring and intriguing story line, and great editing. A pleasure to read any book by this author.I rated 11 of the 12 I read with 5-stars, and one a 4-star.Update: I grab up each new addition to this series! Never disappointed!

I enjoy this series
I've been spreading this series out over time and each time I read one, I love the series all over. A chance meeting between two men change the one man's life and gives him reason to live after a plane crash.Great story!

An interesting metaphysical premise, based on a diary of a plane crash survivor.
I'm not sure what to think of a heroine, Carla, who falls for a "free spirited" man, Seth, who lives to climb the next mountain, whether it be Everest or K2. At seventeen she bares his child alone while he's off on another mountain top. Years later, he has a change of heart after a near death experience and she agrees to marry him. As soon as he is back on his feet, he is off again. He communicates irregularly and sends money sometimes. Their daughter doesn't know him, but Carla can't seem to move on. When his plane goes down over the north atlantic on the way to Iceland, no wreckage is found and the search is cancelled after a week. A few months after the memorial service, she meets Josh, a very nice policeman with a large loving family, and she finally removes her wedding ring. I'm all for keeping marriage vows (been married since 1971) but what kind of message is she sending to her 12 year old daughter by staying in a relationship to a completely egocentric man, who obviously cares very little for his wife and child. Carla wrestles with the fact that her daughter needs a dad she can depend on, but continues to wear his ring after the memorial. Her daughter feels guilty for not mourning the father she never knew. Months later, while preparing for a big date with Josh (who has a question for her,) a gut wrenching call comes from a nurse in Newfoundland that Seth has been found, but is unconscious and in critical condition. She, her mother-in-law and her daughter rush to his bed side only to receive a greater an even greater shock. Her life is at a crossroads. What will she decide. The plot follows a journal started by Seth following the crash. He regrets the promises he hasn't kept and makes a bargain with God to do better if he lives. During the year, his wife has flashes of consciousness that seem to tie her to the survivors. Fate is intermittently combined with God and prayers as a source for the connection. The ending is not necessarily surprising, as the author includes sufficient hints along the way. At the end, the reader is still left wondering what the characters attribute the miraculous recovery and the happy resolution to. Is it fate, some quasi personal higher power, or the One God worshipped by much of the world, albeit in a variety of ways? Perhaps if I'd read the previous books in this series, I would be in less a muddle. Apparently, the author is leaving it to the reader to decide. It seems to be a story somewhat in a class of its own. The pace is relatively slow but the plot sufficiently varied too keep me reading. The characters are interesting and I may pick up the next to find out what happens to the guy our heroine left behind. I've learned after many years of living that this world is a crazy place and its inhabitants sometimes more so, therefore I couldn't rule out the possibilities represented in this tale. Just about anyone may find this a book of interest. There were no issues with language or graphic scenes that would rule out younger or sensitive readers.

The Color of Love
5 stars all the way. Once you start reading this book, you'll resent anything that will cause you to have to put it down even for 5 minutes!! This was a well written story that takes you on a very unusual journey. But the ending is what l hoped for and l wasn't disappointed.

Lovely
I don't review every book I read in this series but so far I have enjoyed them all. I love that you know the characters although the story is always written from a different perspective. This one is about surviving a plane crash, and I can recommend it as a good read.

Delightful story of survival, determination and love!
Delightful story of survival, determination and love grown from connection and loneliness - a fictional story which feels like it could be true - stranger things have happened. I loved the interaction between Carla and her daughter, and between the other male characters. Carla is a very likeable person, and someone that would make a great, caring friend. This author knows how to write unique and unusual stories, and her talent does not disappoint - not in the Color Series or any of her stand-alones. She's an author you will want to follow. I have read about 10 of her books so far, and enjoying them all.

Another touching read
Following the fate of another character introduced in the previous novel, Carla and her daughter Kayleigh can’t believe it when they are told that Seth, Kayleigh’s father has been found after a plane crash a year later. This puts Carla on a trajectory with her fate, was it always meant to be? Loving these books!
