The Pacon Primary Composition Spiral Book features a vibrant tiger red cover, 100 sheets of 5/8-inch ruled paper, and is designed to support both D'Nealian and Zaner-Bloser handwriting programs. With a spiral binding for easy flat-laying, it also includes an alphabet reference on the inside cover, making it an ideal choice for young learners.

a necessary evil
I love the idea of the primary lines and spiral. This is perfect for an early elementary kid and I hate the notebooks offered. The only complaint is the pages are so thin that I had to adjust what we use this for. I originally purchased this for interactive notebooks. I immediately scrapped that idea because if he glues anything down that would be a wrap getting it back up. I instead use it for spelling and vocabulary journal. I would not mind paying the price if the paper quality was just a little better. The none spiral one by the same brand has a little bit thicker paper. I would even take that. I am appreciative to the hard front and back cover and durable coil. That paper though

Cheap paper quality.
It's hard to find the primary red base-line notebooks in general, especially the full page ones, and particularly spiral ones, so I paid the extra to get these as opposed to the mead composition notebooks which cost a lot less. The paper quality on this is very cheap. Usually the red-base line notebooks are required in the younger grades, my son is using them for Kindergarten, which means a lot of erasing. The pages start ripping if you erase more than once. Also they start ripping from the spiral if you use the notebook in class on a daily basis. Next year we will just stick with the composition books.

perfect spacing for K but paper is a little thin
We have been using Mead's Primary Composition K-2 notebook. In comparison, the ruling on this notebook is a little greater, which makes writing on it a bit more manageable for a Kindergartener. It's also much easier to tear out the pages, and you can remove a page without another one getting loose. Cons are that the paper will look messy since there's no perforation but it's still better than having a page ripped and half. Other con in comparison to Mead is that this paper is thinner. I think it'll still pass the eraser test for most kids but you might want to keep this in mind if your kiddo already tends to wear a hole through paper.

Dirty
I bought these for my 2nd graders. A few looked moldy or dirty. I didn't feel safe using them so I ended up throwing them away. I took pictures and downloaded them onto my computer; however computer crashed before I wrote the review. This was a year ago, now that school started again I remembered I needed to write this. Hopefully it was just a fluke but I won't buy again. This year I bought them at an educational store.

Just want I needed
Works great. I love the spiral binding is so much better than the normal ones. My son had such issues with the ones you bend over. I found these and was so excited, I bought 3 and will buy more if needed.

Perfect journal for my K student.
I really like the lines on this journal and that it has no words or pictures. Can turn it into any kind of journal I want to!
