Superb food containers for home freezing and microwave re-heating
Once a month I do a "mass cook-up", where I produce large pots of food. I then portion it out into these great little containers, mark what's inside, then load the chest freezer. These come in different sizes, so you can portion the food as needed - from a "portion-for-one" to a family meal. These containers behave very well in the freezer and in the microwave. (Not really suitable for oven re-heating, but you can transfer the food to a pyrex dish if you prefer reheating in a conventional oven). Cooking and storing these home-made ready meals saves a massive amount of time, electricity and ingredients costs. For example, a bolognaise sauce using quality mince and other fresh ingredients costs me under £1 for a 2-person portion. Compare that to a ready-meal from a supermarket and it's 75% cheaper (and healthier, tastier and more convenient)!
