Hill's Science Diet Dry Dog Food, Adult, Light, Small Bites, with Chicken Meal & Barley for Weight Management

I've been feeding my dogs this brand for years (possibly close to decades at this point). I tried some other stuff a few years ago (tried about 3-4 different brands) - never worked out well - and in the end, my dogs are happy & healthy & the dozens of vets I have seen (in various parts of the country) have always approved. I currently have 2 smaller dogs (both under 20lbs) - over the past decade I've had 4 smaller pups - all who were fed this brand food.The price here really is awesome - I was paying $35 in the store (after tax) per bag. But since this is only sold at pet stores - it was a pain for me - they usually had one meal of a few tiny bites mixed with various dog treats before I would break down & go buy the replacement bag. I checked out other delivery sites - always super expensive shipping, so when I noticed it on amazon - I was thrilled. And since I use subscribe & save it makes this deal all that much sweeter - I'm actually paying a few bucks less AND it's delivered to my door...seriously - I cannot ask for more!! But even if i was paying $5 more - still well worth the price. I haven't run out of dog food in about 8 months now!And to make it all a bit healthier (& to cut down on the calories if you need to) I suggest adding some veggies to their daily meals. I add 1/3rd-1/2cup of mixed veggies to one of their meals each day. Just a regular bag of frozen mixed veggies from the store (nothing with tomatoes though) - put that through the food processor & it lasts about a week for my 2 pups. This is also great if your pup is having a hungry day & seems to want a snack - super low calories & tides them over.

We use three other science diet products with great results. Ordered the small kibble light recently and all of the dogs that are it has had severe diarrhea. Are other dogs eating another science diet are fine. I don't know if it's this batch or this formula, but after reading other reviews from this week with same complaint. I'm throwing this in the garbage. Perhaps Amazon needs to look at recent batches.

I have an older overweight chihuahua and the vet suggested this brand to help slim him down. First we used the weight control (I believe that is the name) and then I found this bag at the pet store and spoke to a Science diet rep. She said the previous one is for a longer slim down duration, where this one is a lighter formula. She suggested I try it and my little guy likes it better. Sometimes I mix a small amount of wet food with his dry food and he goes crazy. I feel good about giving him something he likes, but also something that is better for him. The size of kibble is small; my dog is under 10 pounds.

I originally started with the Active formula until my dogs started to put on weight. Since switching to the Light formula, their weight is under control and they seem to be satisfied. We have two dogs, one nearly 90 pound lab mix and one ~25 pound Shiba Inu (we think) mix. Both dogs eat it up and are excited to hear the "Ting ting ting" of the food hitting the bowl. I easily recommend this food, and specifically this formula. I would more recommend it for smaller dogs, and recommend the "Regular Bites" size for larger dogs.The shipping is wonderful. I pay less to have it shipped to my house than I would to go buy it at the local pet store. I highly recommend setting up a "Subscribe and Save" on this item, as you will need it regularly and you will save a lot of money by doing so. Not to mention you have one less chore to do in your busy day!

My dogs do extremely well with Hill's Science Diet Adult Light products. It helps me manage their weight while still giving them satisfaction in the amount they receive. Because there are fewer calories in the food, the dogs can enjoy a treat a couple times each day, which is very exciting to them. The order was securely packaged and arrived faster than I expected. One of the dogs recognized there was dog food in the box before I opened even the outer box, let alone the sack of food. She now gets excited when she sees a big box from Amazon!

My boxer “Carl” has chronic pancreatitis. I have tried so many foods (all of which were more expensive than this) and Science Diet Light is the only food that has keeps Carl out of the veterinarian’s office.I give Carl the version of Science Diet Adult Light with the Boston terrier on the bag. There is also a version that has an actual boxer on the bag, but the only difference is that the boxer version has larger chunks. Since I pre-soak his food, I find that the smaller chunks work better for that.Carl eats precisely 1 33lb bag of this stuff per month, so Subscribe and Save works perfectly for us!

These are small, greyish brown pellets. After her first taste, my cairn terrier refused to eat this, even though I mixed very small amounts with the food she had been eating (Purina Beneful). My little dog ate around and wouldn't touch the Science Diet. When I finally worked up to giving her nothing but the Science Diet, she began a cycle of refusing to eat for two days, then finally breaking down and eating a very small amount (about 1/4 cup) out of her dish. Then another two days of hunger strike. Meanwhile, she began peeing much more frequently, frantically asking to go out every hour and a half to two hours-- including during the night. And when she pooped, it was liquid. After a couple of weeks of this, we took her back to her old food, and she's back to normal. No matter how good Science Diet is supposed to be for my dog, if it makes us all miserable, it's not worth it.

We had a problem with the food we ordered from Amazon. My dog has been eating this food for years and there was no problem. I decided to go for subscribing to avoid dragging 30 pounds of dog food from the store. Once he started eating from the bag he started throwing up semi digested food. This went on for a week. He also began to refuse to eat the food unless I put something else in it. I called Science Diet and they filed a report. I stopped feeding this food and got locally purchased Science Diet. We're back to no problems. I wonder if there's something different about the food from Amazon. Maybe the way it's stored? No idea but we cancelled the subscription.
