Military Spec Anorak Smock

Good quality and fit
I wasn't too sure what size to get as I am 5'2" with a 38" chest, I read the reviews that they were quite baggy so I sent for a Small Olive Green, this fits perfect, it still has room inside for a jumper. The material is 65% polyester 35% cotton and has a heavy Canvas feel to it. It is very similar to the canvas Anorak that I had when I was in the Army Cadets back in the 1970s. The hood fits snug with no issues, normally cheap coats have over sized hoods that drop down over your eyes. The length is as stated by others its just short of covering the backside. The arms are the right length and not oversized, Draw cords are on the bottom of the coat and on the hood to keep the draughts out. The stitching is tight with no flaws, good value for the money, this will be used for walking the dog/ outdoor activates.

Just what I wanted.
I've found that in the past reviews are a double edged sword. Useful but at the same time confusing. You will read the great ones, raving about how good an item is and then see the other end of the spectrum, warning the potential purchaser to not touch it with a barge pole. So, no surprises here then!Having trawled through the good and the not so good reviews for this smock, I decided to buy any way.The price is good so it wouldn't be the end of the world if it wasn't quite right.I bought the white smock in Medium. I'm a size 10 woman and like things roomy. It is. But that's fine. I could have maybe gone for the Small but it's no great shakes. It's made of a tough, good quality canvas. Thick and unlined. Lots of Velcro. It's basic but it looks great. It is probably shower proof but it doesn't profess to be anything it's not. No nonsense. Decent quality. Reasonably priced. What's not to like!

OK but could be a whole lot better with more attention to detail...
Smock arrived quickly, correct size and colour....XXL and green. However, even though I've only tried it on once there are things that are immediately annoying. The arms:The arms are fine and correct length for me (59cm arm pit to wrist)The cuffs:The placement of the velcro is a joke and there is no way that I can tighten the cuffs without having wrists the size of popeye's forarms (which I don't)!The length of the velcro on the cuffs is also way too short, further limiting the range of adjustment. Therefore cuff adjustment is useless. The side pockets:The flaps that 'cover' the side pockets are on the small size and don't have any velcro or press studs. The head opening:The velcro leading from the chest to the throat is good enough and quite a good fit up to the throat and under the chin. The hood:The hood is fine and reasonably comfy with just about the right amount of room and could acommodate a woolly hat without any problems. When synched up, the hood sits well on head with no sign of it flooping down over your eyes. The length:For me, the length at the rear needs to be quite a bit longer - perhaps as much as 6 inches longer. It currenly doesn't even cover my bum when standing. The size:I'm 6ft, 43 inch chest.I purchased a size XXL so I could wear layers underneath. For this purpose the size is good.Overall this could be a great smock with just a little more effort and attention to detail mainly to the cuffs and length at the back.

so a bit disappointed about that
I am 6' and have a 44" chest and the large size fits a bit baggy....which is just as well because you need room for a decent winter fleece under it.I was expecting it to be a little thicker and more 'canvas like' but it reminds me of the same fabric used for cover alls that a garage mechanic would wear....so a bit disappointed about that.I gave 2 complete wash cycles and it's a lot softer. Stitching and overall quality is good and seems robust enough. Have been thinking about returning it but having washed it now I guess I own it now.I do AirRifle target shooting...hunter field class so it involves walking through the bushes and forest and going prone for certain targets so I am sure it's roomy enough and tough enough as an outer layer at least that can get scuffed...and get some character to it.The front roo pouch is perfect for carrying scorecards and such. On the whole....i think it will be ok as an outer layer but it will not keep you warm on a winter's day if you are only relying on a couple of layers underneath . Definitely not water resistant.
