Boy: Poems (The VQR Poetry Ser.)

This is a gem of a book! Shorter than most full-length poetry volumes but much more packed with quality poems than most. I loved Chattahoochee, his first book, and this one took my breath away!

How is this not in kindle? I wanted to reread it on quarantine times... I gave my physical copy to a boy I liked (foolish of me!). Please make this book digital!

A slim volume with generally fine small poems that are heartfelt and honest.

This poetry is so interesting and touching, I enjoyed reading it. I hope his brother turned out okay; I'm worried about him...

A major poet in the making.

This is a work by a white male. It doesn't speak to me and my identity as a Trans Chicano member of the African Diaspora, and though I practice several schools of transcendental meditation, yoga, and visual contemplation, I haven't been able to shake my anger after reading this work which is completely uninformed by any viewpoint but that of a white male. I am aghast that a work so onesided could be published nowadays. The cover even has a picture of a freckled, blue eyed blond boy despite the fact that white children are soon to be a minority in this country plagued by its shameful past. I'm sorry that I purchased several works by this "poet" before learning that he was white.
