The Mold & Mildew Issue is FAKE NEWS
The Mold & Mildew Issue is FAKE NEWS. This is written by people that either do not know how to properly care for their water bottles or do know, but have made an honest mistake. The fact is, anything that has moisture left in it in an enclosed space without airflow can grow mold / mildew. How do you avoid this in general? AIR FLOW. Air flow generally prevents mold / mildew from growing. Our family has used two of these bottles for 2 years and they have not had any issue with mold or mildew. To prevent this from occurring, here is all you need to do:1. Fill up the bottle and use it during the day.2. When done using the bottle at night, simply pour out the unused water from the bottle and store the bottle open to the air on the counter or in some other area that gets airflow.3. Open up the cap/lid by unhooking the latch, shake out any excess water, and store it on the counter (unlatched) so the inside of the cap/lid is open to the air.4. Wash the bottle and cap/lid on a weekly (or more) basis using hot, soapy water. Fill the bottle with hot, soapy water, place the cap/lid on the bottle, latch the top, and shake vigorously. Rinse with clean, hot water and dry the entire unit with a clean towel. Then leave the bottle and cap/lid (open, not latched) on the counter or in a drying rack open to the air to get airflow. Let dry for several hours (or preferably overnight). We have used the above process for 2 years and the bottle has zero mold / mildew and is like-new. We only wash 1 time per week. It has performed well through daily use by young children and has been dropped dozens of times. We really like these bottles. Good luck and enjoy!

Moldy cap
I had one of these for 4 years and never had an issue. After dropping it multiple times the lid no longer closed which prompted me to purchase this new one. It is impossible to clean the mold around the lid. It’s gross. I’ve soaked it in water, vinegar, scrubbed with a sponge, qtip or knife - NOTHING works. It’s pretty gross. I have purchased a different bottle and would not buy this again

No leaks & easy to clean
I bought 5 of these bottles to help me track my daily water consumption. I've tried other brands but prefer these On The Fly bottles best. Thanks to the wire "latch" I can throw this into my work bag and not worry about it leaking. The lid already locks firmly but the latch gives you that extra peace of mind that anyone who has ruined a phone or a laptop with another water bottle can understand.Unlike Camelback bottles, this has an open mouth which lets you drink without sucking the water up a straw. If you were worried about tip-over while it's open, then Camelback or Contigo's new no-spill bottles might be a better choice. I prefer this design since you can use it more easily while wearing lipstick and it's MUCH easier to clean than the Camelback. When you're on the trail or traveling, a small carabiner keeps this bottle cliped to your bag and doesn't fall off when the bottle is open, thanks to the wider shape of the cap (this is more obvious when you see the bottle).Of course there's no insulation in this bottle, so for drinks that need to stay cold or hot, I use my Hydroflask products. But for keeping water handy, this is my favorite choice!

OTF cap plug grows mildew and is impossible to get clean
I need to be contacted by Nalgene for a replacement OTF cap. The small, soft plug in the cap which prevents leaks grew mildew spots on it, despite regular washing by hand and washing in the dishwasher with the two cap pieces separated. In addition to regular washing, I attempted to get the mildew off by boiling the soft plug in water, soaking in vinegar, scrubbing with a toothbrush and was unable to get the mildew spots off / get the cap plug clean - so it was finally just thrown out. This leaves the OTF bottle useless as it leaks terribly (more like dumps water, not leaks) when the small plug piece is not inserted into the cap. This is my second OTF cap and it did not occur with the first one on a wide mouth bottle (I lost the bottle, otherwise I'd still be using it). I really like Nalgene bottles and have had various sizes; every one of my family members has a Nalgene bottle. We're happy with the other bottles and mildew growth is not a problem on those others. I refuse to accept that I have to use filtered water in my bottle in order to avoid mildew growth - there should be no problem in cleaning via normal methods. Way too much money was spent on a new well at my home to warrant the purchase of filtered water in order to use a Nalgene water bottle!

Just fine.
I'm having no problems with this so far, 6+ months later. Although after reading some of the negative reviews I decided to be ginger about the cap/lid and just use this as a wide mouth. I actually would've preferred a classic wide mouth nalgene anyway but I had trouble finding them in this particular size. I own several of those wide mouth nalgenes but wanted something that actually carried a little less liquid and fit into the tight side pocket of my camera bag (I have a WANDRD PRVKE 21L backpack with the adjustable side pocket - regular large nalgenes fit but barely and very, very tightly). This is ideal for daily commutes to and from work, and small walks; whereas the larger nalgenes can take up extra space AND add extra weight to an already heavy bag carrying camera equipment. I still use and like the larger classic nalgenes but for other purposes and for longer hikes, etc.

Great for 8 year old daughter’s school water bottle
After countless failed water bottles for my rambunctious 8 year old, this one is working great. I find straws to be germ magnets and was glad to find this water bottle does not have one. Also, it is sturdy like my husband’s nalgene and dishwasher safe, which is another test that so many other water bottles failed. The handle was big enough to get a medium carabiner on to clip to her school bag, which is helpful to keep her hands free and increases the likelihood that it will find its way home. Recommended.

やはりブランドの信頼感
The media could not be loaded.

Silicon seal gets moldy after a while, despite regular washing!!!
Hubby had one bottle and his silicon seal got moldy (thought it was because he didn't wash it regularly), so we replaced the lid.But it's happened now to TWO of my bottles that get washed regularly. So there is something not quite right with the silicon seal in the lid. Sad as I LOVE the bottle and it lasted a good few years (had to replace the lids on some of them), but I would've liked if the bottle actually would last a LOT LONGER than that, hence the low rating.

I have Camelback Eddy bottle which is about the same capacity as the OFT but you suck on a plastic teat that is exposed to the .
I wanted another water bottle. I did have a 1L Nalgene narrow bottle until my son commandeered it. The problem with the narrow bottle is it is hard to get ice into it and clean. The 1L bottle is also quite big to fit in the side pocket of my rucksack. The wide neck drops water down the user when drinking. I have Camelback Eddy bottle which is about the same capacity as the OFT but you suck on a plastic teat that is exposed to the elements. This bottle has a wide neck for ice and cleaning but a clever lid for sipping through and a lock to create a seal.So far I am impressed with it but it does not seem as robust as the 1L bottle but I have not dropped it to find out! I am interested to see how the metal wire loop will work that locks the sipping lid. That is why I have given only 4 stars. It might not be a problem: nobody has raised this as an issue.

Great water bottle
I bought this bottle for my son to use as his drinks bottle for school as i was sick of other bottles leaking. The bottle has a wide neck so can be cleaned easily and can be put in the dishwasher to be cleaned. The wide opening also allows for ice cubes to be put in the drink bottle should you wish. The drinking spout is good and allows the drink to be drunk easily but isn't to big that it causes spills. The top clicks down and is locked in place by a metal clip so it can't come undone whilst been carried in a bag. Nalgene have been in the drinks bottle game for a long time and have a great reputation and this bottle doesn't disappoint. I would say though that if you are getting this for a child the opening button can be a bit stiff at first so it probably isn't suitable for children under about 6.

Recycled plastic
Made from recycled plastic but feels a really solid bottle. I like the way you can unlock the stopper with one hand too. The top also unscrews for quick filling and the loop is handy for attaching to a rucksack strap or for carrying.. So not only eco-friendly but also ergonomical! It's seems to be very well made and the design has been thought about. It feels robust too. Time will tell but so far this is the nicest bottle I have owned.
