The Door in the Dragon's Throat/Escape from the Island of Aquarius/The Tombs of Anak/Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series 1-4)

Excellent juvenile fiction! The Cooper kids follow their archeologist father around the world and encounter everything from demons to Soviets . Christian fiction with morals and biblical principles like forgiveness, being kind to others, obedience and willingness to help others, etc. These books are appealing to both young men and young women. If I were to guess a grade level, I would say 5th-8th. Some things in the books have historical and biblical references that are a great starting point for family discussion--such as "are there still people with 6 fingers on each hand?" or "Who were the soviets?" Frank Peretti is best known for his books Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness.

I loved this series as a kid, and just bought them for my 8 year old son. He loved them as well. This is also a good series for kids just learning to read, as there are not many words that are difficult. My son read each book in less than 30 minutes (he does read at a 8th grade level though). There is a little action and suspense in each one, and is also a good Christian story. I told him I would like to read them again. They can be a fun, quick, easy read for an adult as well.

I had these for my 2 sons when they were in elementary school and they loved the message along with the adventure. I just purchased them for the grandsons- makes an opportunity for family discussions when reading is complete!

I purchased this product for my 13 year old sister. For a review on the quality of this product, it was great. The books came packaged in a nice box that fits all four books snuggly. The box has a great design and color. The books themselves are sturdy paper-back books with great updated cover designs. The delivery was speedy and the product fit the description.For a review on the actual books... I myself, a wife and mother, enjoyed reading them. They are a great alternative to the world's suspense/thrillers that offer nightmares and gory images as a result. The books always seem to have a good bit of history or 'fun-facts' tied into the storyline. They are all page-tuners and never have 'dead' spots. My sister is NOT a reader. It took her awhile to finally open the first book, but after she did she could not put it down! All four books (and those not included in this box set) are appropriate for all ages, and are safe to hand to your young reader.

These are great books for my 10 year old grand children. I remember reading them to my son when he was in 4th grade. He still remembers them with pleasure today. He was having great problems reading because of unknown eye problems and I started homeschooling him trying to get him excited about reading. These books, the books buy John Bellairs, and others did just what I'd hoped. They made reading exciting; within no time, he was reading them to me. They are exciting adventures with a very Christian outlook and I enjoyed them also. They are so very much better than lots of young people's books out there!

My 11 year old loves these books. She couldn't put them down. They're great for kids who love mystery and adventure.

This set would be a great series for teens or older children who are mature enough to handle it. There is minor violence throughout the books and some difficult situations faced by the main characters that may not be appropriate for younger audiences. When my children are older I will be happy to read through these with them. The themes are exciting and obviously centered on the Gospel of Jesus. It's hard to find good literature themed on Christian theology for children and this set of books is perfect for that.

Our foster daughters love this series and author. They hope to get more in the future.
