Familiar Things
I read a library copy of the paperback. This trade pulls together strands begun in JLA Team HistoryJustice League Of America Team History TP (Justice League (DC Comics) (paperback)) and JSA Axis of Evil Justice Society of America: Axis of Evilas well as Brightest Day oh and almost every Alan Scott/Green Lantern Obsidian/Jade storyline you've ever read.An awful lot of this is familiar territory and does actually get a tad repetitive. By now you've got the idea, the Starheart is the source of the Original Green Lantern's power and it's taking him over - and everyone else that it can affect along with forcing his two children into a hybrid one person with the powers of Jade and Obsidian. It'll be no surprise to you that in a life affirming conclusion it all gets sorted out again.Best among this is the new JLA team gelling well together into one that Dick Grayson/Batman can be proud of as they are a strange group of not-quite-top rank Leaguers. The Justice Society and their All-Star spin off group also mix well into this adventure and actually I feel it was more about that team than the JLA.There is a strange epilogue involving a `Dark Supergirl' that I don't understand but I have read very little of her stuff over the years. This is not a popular JLA team, this is not even their greatest moment, but in the words of Congo Bill, "We're not so bad, what's up with everyone?"

Best Collection of this series yet!
I love the Justice League and Justice Society. I've followed them for decades. This collection is easily the best of this current series, which has disappointed more often than not. I loved this storyline. It'll be remembered by JLA fans for years. It's certainly the best book since New Frontier or The Nail. Great writing and lovely art. Essential reading for any Justice League fan. Dismiss the negative reviews here. This one is Highly Recommended.

The JLA (Roster still askew...)! The JSA! JADE!!! Green Lantern, Supergirl, Power Girl, Oh my!!! A worthy effort.
Okay, so I'm irritated by the low marks this book has gotten thus far. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the people who was TICKED when the JLA Roster went through a HUGE shake up from the events of Cry For Justice. Justice League of America: Cry for Justice But come on, there's a GREAT reason for the shake up folks. Plus, Batman died! And was replaced by Dick Grayson! Bottom line, our B+ (albeit upgraded from my initial marks of a C+ league when I first heard about Cry For Justice) Justice League is woven together with a GREAT story, which is fairly well written. Plus it had Jade, and the JLA/JSA teamup, and my favorite Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner. (Don't get me wrong folks, I love Hal Jordan, but I grew up with Kyle and didn't know much about Jordan then.) The low stars seem to come from people getting an admittedly (by myself as well) lesser Justice League, and then passing it off saying that the story and action sucks too. They most certainly do not. I give this a 4.5 star rating, because it doesn't have the JLA I love at the corp. But come on, I LOVE Donna Troy and Grayson, and Supergirl, and there's your big three stand in right there. And as much as I was SICKENED to learn that Congo Bill was given a roll in the Cry For Justice storyline, they did something that had seemed elusive before. They went and made him spectacular. A great hero, and funny as hell. This book has something for everyone, but is of particular interest to those who love the JSA, as they seem more centric to the book. Supergirl gets a lot of play, as does Jade who is central to the story line as well. And, not to give too many spoilers away, it sets Alan Scott, the JSA Green Lantern, up for a BIG role in the future, and even hints at things to come for Supergirl. Honestly, the JLA roster isn't what we're used to, but the story is a good one. I found no flaws with the story whatsoever, nor the artwork. Had it had more of my central characters in it, it'd have gotten a five star review. I would have given it 4.5 stars, but that option isn't available. LOL Seriously folks, give this book a try. If you're a fan of the JLA, JSA, and the other things I've mentioned, then I don't think you'll be disappointed. Sincerely, R.A. McDowell
