Comparable to Arches
This is a very nice 100% cotton watercolor paper. I got it to try because even though I use Arches watercolor paper a lot, I have generally liked the sketchbooks and paper I've used from Canson in the past, so I was curious to try their cotton paper. I'm not an expert when it comes to spotting the small differences between the two, but I found them very similar in quality and have a hard time telling the difference between the two brandsIt's not exactly cheaper than Arches (at least not on Amazon at the moment), so I can't say it's better for beginners and practice, but it's another great option to have. I'd be satisfied using either, to be honest. Canson's rough textured (Heritage) paper is also very nice, too!

Better than I expected!
As a rule I have used Arches paper for my watercolor, but I had heard there were some aspects to the Canson Heritage I should look at.I love this paper. There is a lot of sizing on the surface, so lifting color is easier than Arches. The drawback to the external sizing is that the paper dries a little faster, but if you plan for it that is not a major issue.I have seen reviews here saying it can’t handle masking film or erasers, but that has not been my experience at all. You need to use a good remover like rubber content removers rather than your finger or a gun eraser, and not be crazy heavy handed with the pencils, but otherwise it works really well. The paper does buckle some if you are using a lot of water, but the sizing allows the paper to snap back flat once dry as long as you leave it on the board or block well secured until totally dry.For a cold pressed paper the texture is very nice, not quite as rough as Arches and much better than some cheaper papers. Neither good or bad here, just something to note. While this will not replace my Arches completely, there are definitely some circumstances where this will be the better paper for a particular task.

Great Value Watercolor and Gouache Paper.
I would say this is a pretty good watercolor paper. It's 100% cotton so it layers nicely and it dries very quickly. It lifts extremely well so if you're a beginner or make a mistake, you can use a paper towel to correct it. It's very sturdy and does everything that a professional watercolor paper should do. This paper works well with gouache. This paper would be good for watercolor beginners and help them see the difference in high quality cotton paper and low quality wood pulp paper. That being said it's just not for me. I use cold press and hot press and I love the depth that cold pressed texture gives however this texture does not work well with my style of painting. I put some pictures to show the texture. It doesn't really enhance my painting it's just kind of like a pattern that you see all across the paper. Again this is just my personal opinion. Even so you can still make some great artwork with it as you see in my last picture.

Beautiful texture and high-quality artists' paper
Up until recently, I've painted strictly on Arches watercolor paper. However, I realized that Arches uses animal-derived gelatin, which I do not wish to support. So, during my Google research of a vegan alternative of something comparable, I found this Canson Heritage brand. I painted a couple of washes on the Canson paper and was delighted at the results. There's something extremely satisfying about the feeling of the paper. To the touch, it feels almost like a very soft, heavy fabric. It feels very rich! The washes painted very smoothly and held the water long enough to paint over a 11x14 surface. I'm excited to continue experiments with this paper!

It’s vegan!
I recently got into watercolor pencils only to realize most high end paper is not vegan. This paper, while you don’t get much, works absolutely beautifully compared to the cheaper brands I had started out with. It feels high quality, colors of my albrecht durer pencils look vivid and they blend nicely as well. I am very pleased and won’t use any other paper until the rest hop on the vegan train.

Love the quality
Really nice to work with. A big step up from the beginner watercolor paper I've been using. But the absorption rate is quit fast so might not be the best for beginners who may need more working time.

My first try at 100% cotton paper.
I like this paper. It’s very nice paper especially for detailed watercolor painting. Very smooth.

Great paper!
I usually use Arches watercolor paper because it performs reliably under all kinds of conditions. I tried some other papers because they were cheaper . Big mistake! They were terrible. This paper, however, is great. It also stands up to all kinds of rough treatment, and is of great quality. Also it's a really nice size - no tearing huge sheets into smaller sizes. I miss the deckle edge, but it's worth the sacrifice. It took quite a while to get here, as it came from UK, but not an insurmountable problem.

Super Papier, leider keine 4-seitige Verleimung
