Craftsman Carrier Plate

Weak joint in the most-important spot
I bought this to replace a plate that had a broken tooth that holds the cutting string. Within a couple of months, one of those teeth broke on this one. I broke the original one by bending it multiple times to remove jammed clippings. Having learned that little lesson, I never bent this one. It broke anyway.

Poor Engineering
Original broke. Purchased new one and it broke almost immediately. There is a definite engineering/manufacturing defect with this Craftsman 532180338 Carrier Plate

Trimmer Head failure within 30 minutes of use !
This Carrier plate design is inferior and is used on Craftsman, Poulan Pro, Husqvarna, wheeled walk behind trimmers. The plastic moulding around the shaft receiver is to thin, if you are mowing tall weeds any resistance will snap the fitting off the carrier plate. This one lasted less than 30 minutes, see photo.

Bad Product/Poor contruction
The product is of very poor quaility. I installed it and used it on very thin weeds and it last no more than 45 min before it broke.

Spacer issues.
I used it on my walk behind Weed Eater brand trimmer. However the original spacer was too long to install it. I went to the hardware and bought 6 washers of the correct diameter and used them as a spacer instead of the original. Now it works better than the original that came with the Weed Eater Trimmer.

Not worth the $ when you can buy the whole thing
Sent it back & bought the whole tower assembly with bearing thru Sears for $100. My shaft on mine was all messed up from wear & tear.
