Was advised that Red Yeast Rice helps lower cholestorol by a realtive. His changed dramatically after using it (but did start v high). My cholestorol hovers around 4-4.5 but having had a heart attack some years ago my GP wants it lower!Statins do not agree with me, alternatives did not do much. So eventually I stopped the alternates and took Red Yeast Rice. My cholestorol seemd to drop slightly and importantly the good vs bad ratio improved. BUT I also lost weight and increased activity level so these should also helped! My next review will be telling as an accident last year has reduced my activity with a consequent increase in weight. If the results are similar then the Red Yeast Rice will certainly have been a factor.
