The Little Harmonica That Can
This is my favorite hamonica of the 20 or so I've played over the last few years. The sound is rich and full, all reeds worked on arrival, bending is relatively easy, and I haven't put it too out of tune with bending yet. I appreciate the small size, and cats and dogs will appreciate the omission of the high notes. The construction is very nice, I haven't had problems with wood swelling despite playing in both sun and snow. I would take this over a marine band harmonica any day because of the sound quality that, but also because Seydel has never sold me a bad reed and because of subtle features like slighly wider holes, and rounded fringes around the holes that direct airflow well. A few times I've played the same lick on this and another harmonica, and everybody has preferred the sound of the Seydel over a Chinese Hohner. One warning: like most harmonicas, it will attempt to eat moustaches, but it's not the worst offender I've met.It may be worth mentioning that as a student of harmonica, using this helped to confirm which difficulties were due to poor instruments and which were technique oriented. Also, I haven't thrown out the can because it can be fun, but I don't use it much.Happy Playing!

Very good quality
The harmonica plays very well and is made very nicely. Easily worth what I paid. The strap is a bit of a gimmick, but it’s nice it’s included. The can being sealed is pretty neat I like how is packaged.

BIG SIX really does have BIG SOUND !!
Seydel German made quality in a nice small package.I was a bit leery after trying other 4 and 5 hole harmonicas, but here is a 6 hole.Well I expected Seydel to make a difference in a small harp but like it's name it was a BIG difference. The sound and ease of play is just like a full 10 hole size. The fact that this is just a real harmonica with the last 4 holes missing. Most songs can be played on 1 thru 6. I love the 60% size of it. Easy to put in any pocket and have it anytime to practice and pass the time. The special wood comb is beautifully sealed, the best feature is the unique stainless steel reeds. So if you're looking for a compact quality harp, Seydel has excelled on this beautiful sounding stainless steel reeded BIG SIX with BIG SOUND. If you're a harmonica newbie like me you'll be pleasantly surprised by the big sound of this easy to play pocket harp.

Excellent harp
Ridiculously easy deep bends, clear notes, great ringing sound and with their size they lend themselves to all kinds of hand effects. These harps are not cheap (specially if you want to get the non-C ones) but what a great harmonica you're getting for your money. Being a big fan of Hohners (the Crossover is one of my favorites), I was a bit skeptical of the steel reeds but I have to say they do sound fantastic as well as hopefully lasting longer.I can't comment on the functionality of the tin as a resonator (I think that's more of a joke to be honest) and the lanyard is more than a bit dorky, but this harmonica is definitely a great buy and a joy to play and carry around with you.

Don't play if you have a beard!
My beard gets caught every time I get to one of the edges. LOL It sounds great, it is not terribly expensive, but it HURTS!

Birthday Present to Myself
Wow! I just received this in the mail about a half hour ago. This Big Six "Blues" by Seydel is going to be lots of fun to play. The sound really is more than I expected. It's really easy to bend notes. Of course there's only six holes, so I have to remember to play mostly songs or riffs that require low notes. This is my first Seydel Harmonica. The only thing that's been holding me back is the high prices. But now that I've gotten my mitts on their cheapest Harmonica, I think it's time to try some of the more expensive ones. Those 1847s look like they might just be worth the money.I would also like to get the "Big Six" in the "Folk" version. It goes from the low middle to the higher notes. These little Harmonicas come with a lanyard for your neck, so you could play around while you're sitting at a traffic light. I don't recommend doing anything while concentrating on your driving.

Hot little mouth harp!
This little harmonica rocks! As a cut-down version of their full harmonica, it's a real instrument, not some scaled down toy keychain mini-harp. I've pulled it out at jam sessions and surprised pro players with the quality of sound and volume. The full-sized Seydel is nearly $100, so this was an opportunity to check out their product at half the price, and for most blues, the 4 missing high-end holes really won't be missed. There are a couple of somewhat picky reasons I only gave this four stars. First, it's only available in the key of C. Remember, it's a sample to get you to buy their full-sized harps, but it would still be nice to have two or three more keys available. Second, the can and strap are a bit gimmicky. You can use the can for a wah? I guess, if you're so inclined. And that strap? It isn't an adjustable length, so it dangles a bit uncomfortably to carry around like that, and it will collect dirt or lint if uncovered that way. Meanwhile, the can doesn't fit in the pocket nice and neat like a regular harmonica case or cover, so that's a bit awkward. Small details, if you don't want to carry it around all the time, but that mobility seems part of the sales pitch for this.

You want this harmonica. You NEED this harmonica.
So much fun and the easiest harmonica to play! I love how small it is, yet how much sound you get. Being the "blues" version made it extra fun to play! I wanted some sort of musical instrument with me during an overseas trip. Not only did it take up no room, I was able to wear it around my neck unnoticeable! And yet, there it was whenever I felt the urge to play a tune. You absolutely should get this harmonica!
