Squirrels on Skis (Beginner Books)

Perfect for my first grader!
My girl LOVES Squirrels AND skiing. She calls our local squirrels Skittles. This book has perfect reinforcement of a number of her mastered sight words, outstanding phonics rule-based practice sounding out words, AND excellent challenge words that are solveable with a combination of the rhyming prose and the illustrations and context (e.g., āchaletā and ādayā). She took two months from ordering to THE END but as her reading skills improved this fall of first grade, she was able to increase her page / paragraph count per day. We (she!) will enjoy reading this book again and again, as weāll bring it to our childrenās book corner of our local ski museum where we co volunteer. Sheāll now be able to read it aloud for storytime to the young children visitors when we are there for our volunteer shifts this ski season and beyond. So happy with this find!

Fun kids read
My kids loved this book! It was goofy and short enough to keep my 2-year-olds attention, but had enough words and some new vocabulary so my 5-year-old was entertained, as well. Cute story, fun pictures, easy read!

SQUIRREL invasion!
Never seen a squirrel on skis? Well, in this book you are going to see LOTS!"First there was one, and then there were two. Three more came gliding from under the trees." The unsuspecting town lay covered in snow and still. Not for long. Eighty five squirrels were now on their way! What a surprise for the townsfolk as they awoke! Squirrels on skis were everywhere with one even skiing down the church steeple! Now it must be said that they also got into some mischief, knocking over a garbage can and a snowman. What were the people to do about this pesty invasion? Someone suggested Mr. Powers, the pest control man but does Sally Powers have a better idea? This is definitely a book that could be described as silly BUT it is a fun read and the illustrations are cute. It's quite long so definitely value for money and has a nice ending.

Wonderful new family tradition
I got this book in hopes of getting my 2 year old excited for the upcoming ski season. She's beyond elated with this book and has the whole thing memorized, we read it every night. My motive for having the book paid off too, she's in her ski gear nearly every night and ready for snow!
