Best thing for your horse, your wallet, your housekeeping and your back!
This net has helped me sleep better! Now I know my horse is secure in her paddock at night but also has all-night forage, without over-feeding. This has helped me save hay: I placed the two-string bale into the bag, snugged it up, then dropped it into a 150 gallon trough, in the corner of her run-in shelter. She can only nibble about 15 pounds overnight, and doesn't waste a leaf. Instead of stuffing and schlepping two ten-to 15-pound 2-inch nets (which she would polish off by sometime after midnight) I use a hand truck or wheelbarrow to take this from the shed to her shelter, already bagged. The bale then just has to be maneuvered over the edge and into the trough. I may need to eventually drill eyebolts and snap the ends of the net to the trough, to keep the last night's feeding off the floor; I've read some folks have done that. But just knowing that a bale lasts 4 or more nights is such a labor- and money-saving proposition! Thanks, Chix!

Hay saver
Study, easy to fill. Nice when two horses are out together for sharing. Can feed them for a day while reducing hay waste.

Needs metal loops (added) and what's with the big knob?
Ok, first off, I love the net. It is slightly larger than the square bales we use, and I have a method to fold the excess back toward the other end and clip it with a carabiner. That said, the rope that gathers the top didn't feed well and I added a stainless split ring on every loop and then rethreaded the rope through it. My Shires haynets have those loops and I've retrofitted all my other haynets with them.Second, the big knob that the rope runs through does nothing... If it had friction retainers that would be great. I took it off and just chain-tie the excess rope then clip with the previously mentioned carabiner. The net itself has nice sized holes that slow down my gobblers - saving hay and ensuring they always have something to nibble on.

Hate this hay net. No idea on good reviews
So hard to fill and when you do use it... It turns into a long, long tube. No idea why such good reviews. And the holes are way too small.

Great product for the price!
Fits a whole square bale up to 70 lbs! Has been kicked around, stomped on, dragged and twisted up. Still sturdy, still effective! It keeps my hay neat and my horse always has a place to graze. When filled to capacity, it can last one horse a full 48 hours.
