KEMPSTON 88030 Kempston Diamond Hole Saw, 7/8"

Worked better than I expected!
I must admit I was a bit hesitant to buy this hole saw considering it had no reviews and it seemed to be priced too low to be any good. I bought it because it did not need any separate pilot bit like others and it appeared to be deep enough to make it through my DIY marble vanity top where as others stated 1" max depth. When I got the bit I noticed it's build quality was not very heavy duty but I was quick to give it a try through a scrap piece of marble. I worked flawlessly! I was quite surprised! Instructions state to start at an age and work your way to vertical. I'm too much of a perfectionist to do it this way. Instead I drew up a CAD drawing of the sink and faucet holes and had a friend cut it out of 14 gauge steel with his CNC plasma cutter. This allowed me to use the templates precisely placed 1-1/8" holes to get the bit started in the right place with no chance of slipping. Worked excellently. I only needed to drill 6 holes and the bit worked superbly. In my mind this goes without saying, but just in case - make sure you keep water on it all the time and don't go crazy fast! I would recommend this bit to anyone who needs a few holes, but I would question its durability in a production shop. I would not rate this bit five stars for a production shop, but for a DIYer like me I'm extremely satisfied and happy I mad this purchase.

Worked well enough for a kitchen sink
I used this to cut a hole in my kitchen sink for a soap dispenser. It is porcelain followed by about 1/2” of cast iron. It worked, but it wasn’t easy. It took me about 20 minutes of work to finally punch through. Perhaps I should have switched to a carbide blade once I got to the steel layer. Anyways, after much elbow grease it did finally penetrate the sink. I noticed the bit wobbled a little, as if it wasn’t completely balanced. Wasn’t a huge deal in my case but I would be concerned if I was drilling a stone countertop.

Good, but not great
I bought this to drill the glass of fish tanks. As soon as I opened it I discovered a flaw. Its visible on the photo at the 3 o'clock position. While small, it is a diamond blade that cuts glass based on friction. It has worked, but it has caused a few chip outs as it cuts through and some less that ideal cuts in the glass, but again, its a hole. The fitting that passes through the hole has covered up all but one of the tasks I have drilled so far (5 total). If you are looking for a cheap, but effective hole saw this is acceptable. What I received may have been a fluke. I will buy one again, it works for my needs with an acceptable rate of failure.

Must have for drilling in quartz
It cut nicely through quartz. Cut 2 holes with it. Seems like it could handle another couple holes in the future. I’ll hang onto it.

Worked great for me
I needed to drill a few holes in concrete blocks and it worked well for that. Can’t address durability but it didn’t show any signs of deterioration during my usage of it.

Perfect.
Worked perfectly. Made a template with a 7?8" hole out of 1/4" MDF, taped to the wall tile with duct tape, dipped the bit in water, started the hole, removed the template to finish ....... end of story. (7/8" holesaw) Perfect hole.

Good job for price paid!
Drilled granite countertop. Did the job, was abit tricky to start the hole but overall good job for the price paid. It's not the best quality bit but it is alot better then the other cheap silver diamond coated hole saws.
