Wristwatches

The title says it all - lots of nice pictures of watches but no "contents" list by watch maker. The book is in sections such as "early wristwatches" or Calendar Watches" and so on with a few pages devoted to each style with various makers models shown.Useful only inasmuch as it does give perhaps an indication (but only just) of the style of that period, but little else.The price indications listed against each watch maybe OK for the USA but outside the States seem to have little relevance to good condition watch prices (in most cases optimistically low!!). In fact it is easier to simply change the figure range quoted from Dollars to Pounds (say $350 - change to £350) and you would be nearer the mark.In it's defence the book does offer pretty good photographs of each of the watches listed and is useful as an indentification or dating of unknown watch models and so on, so I do find it useful in a general sense, but no more than that.It seems like always to get a comprehensive knowledge base of watches it is necessary to get yourself a good few of these watch books around you and use them all as a collective database. So I don't expect this will be the last book on watches I'll buy!!

I needed to buy a presnet for my old grumpy...he is hard to buy for, and when you buy him a present he will ask 'Why have you bought me that?'......yes I know...no graciousness at all!It is his birthday today....and when I presented him with his gift I did not get the usual response...instead it was 'Hmmmm....Wow'SO I have to assume it is a hit.As to the more relevant questions a buyer would ask......'Is it useful?........is it relevant? is it a good book?'I can't tell you that...only that my old Grump approves of it, and it made him smile, has kept him quiet(reading it).So in my book it is a HIT!
