Horwood SEA22 Touch Control Induction Hob, 2000W

Catastrophic failure at second time of using. Have to say, even the first time of using wasn't perfect. While trying to brown meatballs, it kept switching itself off as it was too hot.........but the pan certainly wasn't!The second time of using, it was running at 1400W, and I cranked it up to its maximum. This was ok for about five seconds, then there was a bit of a muffled "crack" sound from inside the unit, and my circuit breaker tripped.Having reset the breaker, the induction hob would not restart. The fuse was ok, so the unit was repackaged for return to Amazon. Have hesitated buying another due to the speed of failure of this unit. I have always viewed Stellar as a good reputable brand, but this experience has dented that belief.

I have owned several portable inducton hobs over the years and they all fall apart after six months or so. This one seems to be much better made than most, and so far (2 months) the fan is still working and the thermostat seems to be consistent and acurate. If it passes the 6 month period without a problem I will be bery tempted to buy the double one also available from Stellar.Update: September 2017The above has just failed - looks like the thermostat has packed up, it didn't go with a bang though, more of a slow whimper, but I bought it in August 2011 and it's now September 2017. I've used it every day, so I'm happy with that.

good product but cuts out when it reaches a set temperature on the plate and this can be a pain as some times you may want to really sear some thing and it turns off when you don't want it to , but heats up really quickly, best for boiling and the like realy good control , just like use gas but better as all the energy used goes into the pan and not loosing some up the side

Looks nice but like others when I plugged it in there was a loud bang and burning smell. It tripped the mains which left me in the dark. Luckily it did not catch on fire. Amazon were good as always. I would buy a different product if I was you. Oh yes and why did the price go up to £200 on 14/02/2018 when it had been £69 for the previous 3 years. Simple profiteering on old stock!

Have had to turn off my aga off because of the heat in the kitchen, so urgently needed a hob for cooking. Great product, does just was it says and does not give out any heat so fab for cooking in this hot english summer we are having. It is a great cooking experience, also so neat and storable when not in use.Would certainly recommend this product. Delivery was quick and efficient also.

Excellent product heats very quickly and is also very controlable does not over heat.
