Gorgeous fixture, too bad about the stickers
Update. Our second order arrived and this time removing the horrible stickers revealed a white chip in the finish (see picture). It isn't clear whether the label damaged the finish or the flaw was invisible to the inspector because of the label. Regardless, the fixtures are beautiful and this is really inexcusable. We ordered different fixtures for another room at the same time and these came with clear, easy to remove labels that left no residue, so it can be done.Original comments. We were really excited to find this fixture. It is perfect for our home. We ordered four from this source (all they had at the time) and two more from another source. They look just like we expected from the pictures. Unfortunately, the company placed TWO large red and white stickers on the front of the fixture socket (see pictures). The stickers have to be removed because they are visible through the glass. The glue from the stickers in impossible to remove. It is really sticky and will likely discolor over time, especially due to the heat from the light bulb. The company had included a warning not to use any chemicals on the fixture because of the hand-applied finish. I called customer service at KALCO and their only advice was to use warm water, which was totally ineffective. I also tried a small bit of vegetable oil, which works on some sticker glue. No luck. This could have been avoided by (1) using a water soluble glue, (2) using a (ONE) transparent sticker and placing it on the back of the socket, or (3) using a sticker that leaves no residue. Seems like very poor planning for an expensive and otherwise well-crafted product. We are keeping the fixtures and hoping the company with come up with a better answer to the problem of removing the glue.
