The blinking sides and the wide flood light
To the reviewers complaining about the one button for the lights you really need to read the manual. Push and hold for 2 secs turns on or off the main light. A short click cycles through the light on the sides. Each short click either changes the side or turns the side off. The 16 ft is perfect for evening walks. It’s very smooth I like the nylon. The handle is very comfortable. It was extremely easy to operate and very easy to see where my dog did her business. No more fumbling around with my iPhone camera. Love it!

SIXPET LED Retractable 16 ft Dog Leash 2.0 with Flashlight - Is my dog too much for this?
This is my first retractable dog leash in over 40 years of German Shepherd dog ownership. I am not generally a fan of this type of leash. I normally use a 6 foot leather leash. But my dog is well trained and I can imagine some times where the variable length leash with LED lighting would be quite useful.I walk my dog 3 or 4 times a day and at least one or two of those walks are in the dark during the Winter months. He also wears a Noxgear LightHound lighted harness when out in the dark.I chose the SIXPET Heavy Duty Retractable Dog Leash as it looked like a good value and feature set. Its 5 meter (16.4 feet) retractable leash is either made of 3/8" wide FDY Polyester Webbing or Nylon Webbing. The product documentation calls out both materials so I guess they are not sure. Breaking strength should be tested and is undocumented.According to their listing on Amazon, the SIXPET Heavy Duty Retractable Dog Leash Is Compatible With Dogs Of All Sizes, 10-90 Lbs Pet Dogs Can Be Suitable. Again, it appears that they are not sure of the limits and they should test the breaking strength. My dog is 100 lbs so I might be pushing the limits of this leash. I would hope that their breaking strength is over 200 lbs of pull including the alloy clasp and other hardware.A stainless steel core spring provides long life and the quick leash retraction. The one button lock and release mechanism works quite well once you get used to using it.The locking alloy leash clasp locks and unlocks with about 4 complete rotations of the clasp sleeve. Lock it by turning the clasp sleeve to the right (clockwise) and unlock by turning the sleeve to the left (counter-clockwise).You charge the internal lithium flashlight battery with an included USB-C cable. The side lights will glow red when charging and then turn green when the battery is fully charged. The side lights will flash red 6 times to show when the battery is too low and needs recharging. I would guess that the flashlight is good for 2 or 3 hours before it needs recharging - which I expect would take 1 to 2 hours. We have walking / biking lanes on both sides of the street that I live on. But I don't feel safe walking my dog on the side of the road attached to this leash as he might lunge towards the traffic and I don't trust the strength of the alloy clasp, the leash, and its mechanism. For that style of walk, I'll keep using his strong leather leash. While I do like the product, I think the price is fair, but I would like to see complete testing and documentation for this device in order to give it a 5 star review.

long leash with especially useful extra features
This dog leash is quite nifty and has several features I would not have thought to put on retractable leash like this. First and foremost, the best part of it is the extra bright light. Usually when walking my fur-baby, I have to carry a flashlight in one hand while holding the leash in the other. Its quite cumbersome and having this leash with light all in one will save valuable and limited hand space (I've only got two! For now at least… still waiting on that medical procedure to become available). In addition to the flashlight, it also has a multicolored light on each side of it that makes the user more visible to traffic while walking at night. I appreciate this feature a lot because there are very few streetlights where I live and i usually walk my pup late at night. Another feature I like is the locking carabiner clip it has at the end of the leash which seems much more reliable than the usual leash clips. It is made almost completely of plastic, but the plastic seems quite durable (an important feature for big strong dogs). The leash itself, on the other hand does seem a little thin and lightweight. A dog could easily chew through it or even possibly snap it by pulling (this may not be a concern, the leash might be very strong, but it being so thin leaves this as a concern at the back of my mind). Lastly, the carabiner is lightweight but seems to be built in a durable fashion.I am looking forward to spending more time walking with my dog and allowing her more time and space to explore the area without having to stop and/or pull her every few seconds. This 16 foot leash will allow me to do just that-- recommended!
