Tense and action packed.
The Traitors is a dark and tense read that I enjoyed.Beechwood Castle was the site of three horrific murders years ago. One survivor. Now six people receive an invitation to attend the crumbling disused castle for one night only. A million dollars will be split between the survivors of the night. When they get to the house they receive a note to say “All of you are traitors but one of you is an imposter, work out the imposter to survive and get extra money”. Let the night begin!!This was a fairly quick read for me that I enjoyed partly because of that. The book is told from all six peoples POV which worked really well and was explained at the beginning of each chapter clearly so you knew who was speaking. This was a tense read and trying to figure out who the imposter was amongst all the characters was very well written. This was a different type of read for me as I don’t usually go for a closed room book but I thought this was well executed and the storyline flowed well with characters that were all different.

A Good Idea, But ....
Here's an example of a good idea turned into a mediocre book. It feels hurried, as if the author needed to finish the book to a time schedule. Not my favourite book of the year, but certainly action-packed.

Actually really good
I really enjoyed this story. I wasn't going into it with any expectations giving that I couldn't find the book on goodreads, storygraph or bookamory but it needs to be added ASAP.It kept me listening and I finished it in a day. The plot twist I didn't see coming and the narration was spot on.The only thing I would say is that there were a few repetitive points made by the characters but other than that, it was a good read.

A psychological page turner
The Traitors is a gripping psychological thriller that intertwines the past and present, exploring the aftermath of a heinous crime that occurred 27 years ago. This novel delves into the minds of six individuals who find themselves entwined in a web of mystery, danger, and the haunting shadows of a castle with a dark history. The story unfolds as the characters—each with their unique connection to the original crime—are invited to spend a night at the infamous Beachwood Castle . Three teenagers lost their lives in the castle's depths decades ago, and the survivors and investigators who had once experienced the horrors first-hand must confront their demons as they return to the scene of the crime. The eclectic group consists of a YouTuber who produces true crime videos, a true crime writer seeking inspiration for her next bestseller, a police officer who was present during the initial investigation, and a survivor of the original crime who has struggled to move on. As night falls, tensions rise, and the castle's eerie atmosphere sets the stage for a series of chilling events. The pacing is masterful, with suspense building steadily as the night progresses. Each character's backstory is revealed with precision through chapters of their own, adding layers to the narrative and heightening the stakes. The author's keen attention to detail paints a vivid picture of the castle's eerie ambiance, making it almost a character in itself. The interactions among the characters are both intriguing and unsettling, as suspicions and secrets emerge. The psychological depth of the novel is enhanced by the exploration of how individuals grapple with their pasts and their roles in the unfolding drama. As dawn breaks, not everyone emerges unscathed, leaving readers questioning the thin line between truth and perception. The Traitors delivers a tale that captivates from the first page to the last, leaving readers haunted by the lingering shadows of the castle and the choices made when confronted with the ghosts of the past.

Gripping
This is a book along the lines of an Agatha Christie, but with more blood. Classic style mystery with interesting, flawed characters, one of whom I desperately wanted to survive. I think the survival of the character would have given more heart to the book, instead of the slasher movie vibe I was getting near the end. Very much enjoyed the last chapters catching up with the survivors, I don’t think this is done enough in mystery and thriller fiction.

Awesome Read
I have always loved this author's books, but have to say this is my favorite by far. Normally, I know who the killer is way before the last page. Not this time! She kept me guessing until the very end. Great book!
