The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest Book

fun to fill in the captions but what i really like is that they have the winners and runner up captions on the next page. my daughter enjoyed doing some (12) but some of the cartoons are a bit "off-color" for her age (she just moved on until she found one she was interested in )

As one who always turns to the comic strips or funny pages first in a newspaper, I'm always amused by the cartoons in the New Yorker. I tried using some of these cartoons in a creative writing class I taught a few years ago and it made me realize what a wonderful gift humorists possess. Not everyone or more specifically, very few people have the ability to concoct these marvelous and pithy captions.

Great gift for my dad who loves one liners.

Fun book; I like to think of a caption before actually reading what other people came up with. (Unfortunately for me, I couldn't think of a single funny one.) If you like The NYer cartoons, you will enjoy adding this book to your collection.
