This is a nifty little gadget for smoothing out my dog’s nails after getting them clipped. It’s basically just an emery board so I think it would take too long to use this for actual nail trimming, but my dog gets her nails clipped at the groomer’s and they always come back a little scraggly. I used this to smooth them out a bit so they don’t get snagged on the blankets. My dog doesn’t love it but she’ll tolerate it in little bits. I’m hoping with time she’ll get used to it and let me do all of them at one time.

Success will vary from dog to dog, but it's definitely a good place to start for some dogs. I got this to use on my friend's dog because she always jumps up and has scratched me many times by accident. It doesn't necessarily shorten her nails, but it does at least buff them to smooth them out a little so they're not as sharp. I think it was a weird feeling for her at first and she was kind of confused, but got used to it. It came with extra pads and they velcro on.

My fur babies don’t like us touching their paws. I can never use an electric grinder because of the sound. This manual nail grinder helped a bit, I can grind down their nails a little at a time. They don’t like it but they tolerate it since it doesn’t make noise.

This is nice for smoothing after trimming but cannot replace the electric grinder. It’s comfortable to hold and comes with several replacement sand paper rounds. Good for a nail file.

My dog hates everything electric and for sure hates having her nails trimmed. She lets me use this nail file without any issue. She doesn't jerk away or flinch. Her dewclaws are always super sharp, but with this, I was able to smooth them out very well.

My shih tzu all of a sudden started freaking out when we try to trim his nails. He kicks and screams with either clippers or a grinder even though he used to be fine with either. I got this hoping we could find a way to shorten his nails without distressing him, but it still bothers him. As soon as I try to rub a nail against the gritty surface, he goes nuts. It seems like a good but slow option, but just doesn't work for my dog.

I don't like using regular clippers after accidentally clipping too high. When I saw this tool, i thought it would be a good replacement. It works alright, though there is room for improvement.The wooden handle is comfortable to hold, which is a good thing because the filing paper on it requires you to make so many passes to file the nail down. It's just like a regular emory board.Overall, I feel neutral about ordering this.

Works great. Easy to hold. Extra pads are a plus!!
