The morale of this film is- don't travel in first class!
Murder on Flight 502 is a movie from the 70s that is basically an Agatha Christie movie set aboard a plane. People are getting knocked off, though it takes way past the hour mark for this to happen. And the movie becomes a whodunit. Robert Stack who seemed to be in every low budget movie made in the 70s plays the captain- and he is worth watching the movie for, if only because he has all the best lines and adds a comedy value to it all with a deadpan face. You'll notice Sonny Bono who sleepwalks through the film with a constant smile on his face while trying to get into a fans knickers. Molly Picon, revered in parts of New York City has nothing to work with as a lonely but boring old woman. This is perhaps Farah Fawcetts worst movie ever, she is completed wasted- and I don't mean through drugs. Theodore Bikel's finest moment is making a sound akin to that of Donald Sutherland's final moments in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Given that Invasion came out 3 years after this, at least we know where the inspiration came from. The film has cheap sets throughout and huge plot holes, however it does have that certain classic 70s quality to it. In short if you love disaster movies from this era then this movie is watchable. However the problem with the film is that it just isn't good enough to keep you riveted. There is zero suspence, a poor script and wooden acting. Oh and the detective played by Hugh O' Brian talks and talks and talks. Literally the final credits are going up and he's still going on.Quite a borefest- only for low budget disaster 70s purists only.

The Mystery is the Sky High Reviews
A letter is left in the departure lounge for the captain referring to deaths on his flight from New York to London. By chance the letter is received before the murders occur, allowing for sleuthing to begin midair. Can the killer be found and the deaths stopped in the 6 hour flight? The tension barely keeps the eyes open as the time is repeatedly referred to and the killer finally makes their move. This is a first class flop. Almost so bad it's good, but not quite. The plot is convoluted to the point of not even knowing who the sleuth is (the pilot? the policeman? the airport security? the best-selling murder mystery writer!!!?). I thought I was in for a lighthearted and obviously ridiculous murder mystery. This was only delivered in parts amidst subplots that were either completely unbelievable (kid leaving smoking gag in first class lounge gets talking to by pilot/ old chatty lady and disinterested 'committed bachelor' end up holidaying together) or entirely offensive (paedophile rockstar sweet talks vengeful father of 15 year old who OD'd at his party... the scriptwriters should probably have been investigated). The denouement was predictable and an absolute bore.A murder misery.

Good movie
It's amazing to me what some people will say about movies and most of it doesn't make sense. I bought this movie because it had a very beautiful woman who 4 years later land a usage role in a classic TV show. Robert Stack plays the role of Captain Larkin, Hugh O'Brien plays the role of Detective Daniel Myerson, and the beautiful young women was Farrah Fawcett majors who played the role of Karen White. This was your typical airplane movie where it took about 15 minutes or more to set up everybody roles that would occur on the flight 502. After the jumbo jet takes off Captain Larkin gets a radio call from security in New York City. First, a box was found in the first class section that security thought it was a bomb that turned out to be a smoking jack in the box. Next security finds a note in the lounge with an ominous message left by a passenger threatening to kill some of the passengers. At first, it is thought to be a sick joke, but soon a man posing as a priest and a flight attendant are killed. It is up to the captain to find the killer before the body count increases. All and all the weasel gives this movie 8 star. As far as Farrah Fawcett Majors goes, she did a great job at being the flight attendant in charge.
