Loved it!!
Loved the book, even though there are some distressing scenes, and sad twists. It’s a good read, and I would definitely recommend it.

Sad story about spousal abuse but so well written you'll be cheering on the heroine.
I thought this book was a dark story but then, how could it not be when you have a king plucking a peasant from the village to offer her family help as long as she and her sister stay in the castle. Little did seventeen year old Emma know that the cost would be her virginity and the constant abuse from an evil-minded king. The story is dark, and sad, but it draws you in so deep you must read on to learn Emma's fate. I thought this author had a fresh voice in describing emotions and inner thoughts comparable to well-known authors I read on a regular basis. It was a well-written, well-plotted story that had so many twists it was hard to put the book down.Normally I drop whatever I'm reading when I receive and ARC from another author but this book had me finishing the story before I could move on. Well done! I also feel that although this story's core was Emma surviving the spousal abuse, it also offered hope at the end of the tunnel and had me wanting to push her along to make that journey.Excellent read!

Like Adventure? Plot Twists? Intrigue? Heroic characters all within a great storyline?? Have I got a book recommendation for you!!!
Great read! A real page turner! The story grabs you from the first page, and keeps you on the edge of your seat as you find yourself immersed in the story right along with the main characters- who you will love ...and hate...and maybe even love to hate...If you like adventure, intrigue, twists and turns, and some medieval murder and mayhem along with great characters and storyline- THIS is your next read! Cassandra Jamison is one of my new fave authors! Hey, Ms. Jamison- I’m ready for your next adventure!

Okay
Okay read, although it seemed to plod along in a few places and I found myself flipping forward occasionally. My biggest issue was wording not being appropriate for the apparent timeline. This happened all through the story. The countries mentioned in the story are fictional, so true-life religious and cultural references as well as more modern terminology throughout the story, are distracting to the reader and make immersion in the story difficult.

You can't go wrong
I love Cassandra's books. Her writing is gritty and real and every story just puts you into a new world. This is a particularly compelling book. I hate spoilers, so just pick it up and get reading!
