Q: If i don't have " 3-prong milkhouse" but normal home, will it work? i don't know if i have any prongs though. panic? help?...

It has a standard 3 prong plug that will work in any 3 prong 110v outlet with 15 amp line. We use this unit to heat a 2 car garage/workshop on a standard 15 amp line with no problem. If your electrical was built after the mid 1960’s you will probably have 3 prong grounded outlets.

Q: Why is it so hard to turn the knob for fan, 1300W, 1500W?

Q: can this be safely used with a three prong surge protector extension cord?

Yes. But it is recomended to unplug the unit when it's not in use. I left my previous similar unit plugged in all the time. When I unplugged it the plug in was visibly burn for some reason. I like this heater, but I unplug it every time I leave the room for any lenght of time.
