Great value, minor issues that can be worked-around
I need to start this review by stating that I'm reviewing the product based on it's functionality and price. If you want a perfect mount - spend 2x/3x on the official one for your device. It will be better a better product, guaranteed. I wouldn't recommend getting a fake one for your satnav etc, as I have had 2 of them and they have barely been fit for purpose. I've used this for a month or so (and someone else has used the same on the other car) and we've been pleased with how the product works.Nevertheless, I have 2 of these and they both work well. I'm not sure if earlier versions had a problem with the suction part, but mine both have levers to aid the mechanism and are rock solid (i.e. almost impossible to pull off the window without flipping the lever). It wobbles a lot if you place it as you would normally - I solved mine by placing it so that the plastic top of the dashboard supports it and it doesn't wobble at all. You're supposed to be able to tighten the mount to make it wobble less, but I've read that that part is really easy to break and I've found it just loosens itself from the optimum position. The real advantage, is that it fits a Galaxy S2, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 1, along with my old TomTom. This is a big advantage, if several people use the same car, or you have a Satnav and a phone which you like to swap, depending on what you're doing.I recommend this, but it's not perfect. There are enough reviews here to make everyone aware of the limitations. The main gripping mechanism is just a large bulldog clip and is strong and should be reliable. Be really careful if you put your brand new £500 phone in it without testing it first.Would give it 9 out of 10, but for the price, this is a 5* product if you don't expect too much. Also, if it breaks on first use or whatever, just send it back to Amazon and put it down to experience. It's definitely worth the obvious risk.

Not good for iPhone 5
I have been looking for a iPhone 5 car holder. I saw this and it appeared to meet my needs, especially that I could use it with the iPhone still in its case.I had the following issues with it.Firstly the base does not form a firm grip when attached to a circular pad I have on my dashboard. It can be pulled off without releasing the clip. My Garmin when attached to this mount on a Garmin holder takes a bit of force to remove it from the pad, even with the clip released. I would have concern on how long this holder would stay in place before it dropped the phone. I dread to think the damage that could be caused to the phone if it fell into the drivers foot well.Secondly there is far too much vibration and as such it is very off putting when looking at the phone screen. The vibration occurs at any speed. When I use my Garmin I get no vibration so I know it is a problem with the phone holder. I tightened the ball joint nut, but now cannot undo it!Finally the grip and the ball joint. The ball joint does not give sufficient movement to allow the phone to tilt so as to place the phone screen at a slight angle downwards. You can only have the phone in landscape view. It will not allow the ball joint to move the grips into a portrait view.Okay the price makes it cheap and you should bear the above in mind if you decide to buy one. For me this will end up in my garage and I will be looking to spend a bit more on a iPhone purpose made car mount.

OK but shaky
The item that I received was slightly different to this, with the suction lever folding flush with the base when engaged. This aspect - base and suction - is excellent and, since applying to my windscreen, I have done well over 1000 miles without any failure of the suction. I am wondering whether those who have had a problem have removed the protective film from the suction cup base?! The mount that actually holds the phone is also very good. It holds the phone quickly and securely, with the big advantage being that all but the larges of cases can be left on the phone. The downsides, though, relate to the ball-joint. This steadily loosens and certainly needs to be tightened before each use. Also, the mount induces quite a bit of vibration in the phone. As I use mine against the side pillar of the car, this provides some additional stability to virtually eliminate the vibration. However, if you prefer to mount your phone in the middle of the windscreen, I can see that this would cause significant problems.Overall, therefore, this is a pretty good mount for the money and, if you can live with or counter the problems then it is something that I would recommend.

Poor quality and even worse service
I had this for about a month before the ball joint broke rendering it useless. The suction cup is of poor quality and was bent on arrival due to poor packaging, as a result of this it fell off the window several times and wouldn`t stick to the dash at all. The phone was an iPhone 4S so not a large or heavy phablet and a product this is advertised as working with this holder. I have sent several emails and messages to the seller and am yet to receive a response to any of them. Original delivery was slow, packaging was poor and the quality was not up to scratch. There are plenty of other options available at this price point, please save your money and avoid this product, more importantly avoid this seller as you will find it very difficult to communicate should you have any problems. I have since replaced this item with this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AAZKMX0/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1and have found it to be of better quality, it hasn`t fallen apart and does what it say it will! Although design is different as this sites on your air vent.

Good for the price
I used this in my car and various hire cars and it's done the job well. The good points are that it attaches solidly to the widescreen and it holds the phone securely. The only down sides are that it can wobble (if the road surface is not smooth) making it difficult to focus on the phone screen, and it can be tricky operating the release mechanism for the phone when it's attached to the widescreen as the phone tends to get in the way.So it's not perfect but I haven't seen anything even remotely close for the price.
