Wonderful seed germinating tray
These trays are really nice and solve the problem of overwatering microgreens.I have been germinating seeds for microgreens for years. I started off doing it before it was a "thing" with many people and just using a dampened paper towel, keeping the seeds continually wet and sprouting in a bread pan. Those days are gone! Now I use the 10x20 trays, and sometimes a mason jar, and with tools like this it's better all the time.I already had the substrate material (I use both the crushed paper fiber and also the hemp mats that come in 10x20). I have been just placing them directly inside my 1020 trays and wetting each day. Sometimes they get too wet that way, but with these trays, the "mesh" bottom provides just a slight bit of space below the mat and the bottom tray, letting the mat wick the water up instead of sitting directly in the water. My seedlings are all sprouting very quickly, and much more evenly using these. When I saw the word "mesh" I thought the bottom would be more like a screen or even fabric in the bottom, but it's not. It's a very nice criss-crossed design made of the same durable material that the trays are made from. These are going to last a really long time. The trays themselves are sturdy and super functional, fitting inside my bottom trays like they were made together. Very, very nice germinating tool and I am so happy to have seen them and ordered them.

Good for grass
I used these to plant a flat of grass sod from seed. I mix my dirt and cinder in and lay the seeds on top and "rake" it into the soil mixture. It's easier to control the grass when in these types of flats. Once the roots grow thick, I cut it into smaller squares and lay it in the ground. These trays work great for my purposes.

Excellent quality
Size: 5 pack 1020 Mesh TraysI'm absolutely delighted with the ILITING 1020 Mesh Trays. They are exactly as described - strong and durable, slightly flexible thickened plastic. They are nothing like the stiff, thin trays that easily crack or split with continued use that I've tried in the past. I believe that with proper care, the ILITING 1020 Mesh Trays will last for years. I really like the diagonal, criss-cross drainage hole design. The slightly raised ridges across the bottom of the trays allows for proper drainage as well as provide additional structural integrity to the tray. No flopping or bowing when the tray is fully loaded. The mesh trays fit perfectly inside the standard 1020 no-drain holes trays. Microgreen growing mats and 72 seed cell trays are an exact fit. When seed starting, I place the loaded mesh tray into a 1020 tray filled anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 full with water. This allows the growing medium to draw up the water by capillary action and helps to prevent oversaturation. These trays will also work great with soil blocks like those shown on the product page.Overall, excellent trays, great design, and should last for years.

Stable, Strong and Sturdy
These are what I would call strong, heavy weight trays, and, with care, very unlikely to split or crack.Anyone who does any amount of gardening knows that one can never have too many good, sturdy trays. When the load is extra heavy, you can always just double up the trays, one into the other, to make them super strong. These mesh trays nicely hold 18, 3-inch pots each, perfect for transporting seedlings outdoors and back during the hardening off process. Once outside on benches or in the cold frame, they can be watered while still in the mesh trays, letting the excess water run directly out the bottom of the tray. These trays can also be used for sowing seeds by adding a like-sized, no-hole type tray underneath to catch any extra water, provided these bottom trays have inverted grooves to help hold the flowers’ roots up out of any excess water.
