Dreaming with the Ancestors
While working on our family tree, this book was recommended by a family member. I had told him of the intense research and the discovery of names changes regarding the spelling. He referred me to this book and the issue of basket names. Many thanks to Shirley Boteler Mock for bringing out the voices of the Women.....Women who had a profound affect on my life and the family tree I have worked on for many years. Over 2 decades. I wish I had known of you and the writing of this book when I initially began this tree, but nonetheless it is still well documented. Many thanks. I am happy to recommend this reading.

My Ancestors would be very proud
Mrs Boteler-Mock has done a great job in telling the story of my ancestors!!! I have known for many years about these wonderful stories of my families heroic adventures. Never has it been told from the women's point of view and that was what has been missing. Very glad that Mrs Boteler-Mock brought them to life for the world to read, just as they have been to me my whole life. There are many many many more stories still untold. Thank you for starting the ball rolling.

Black Seminole Women in Texas and Mexico...
I love this book because it allows me to learn more about my ancestors. I am related to the individuals who were interviewed by Prof. Mock through my Mother and her people.. I am currently preparing a book with even more stories and photos for future publication. Do you have any suggestions who I might contact re: publishing it and placing it in the Smithsonian. A Delightful Journey
I received a copy of this book last year at the annual meeting of the Texas Archaeological Society. I read it with delight because is makes the little known story of the Black Seminole Women in Texas and Mexico come to life with the magic of the women's own voices. Unlike many such studies that reflect the opinions of the interviewer, this text allows the women to tell their own stories in their own way. These people spring to life on the pages of this text. At the end, I was sorry to have finished because I wanted to continue to hear their stories.I teach a high school anthropology class and have used many of the stories in my class, to the delight of my students. This book is well worth your time and money.
