I will start off with the punchline. The blanket is great and is better than as described. This is my first “heavy blanket” and I was skeptical from the get-go. I had never heard of the concept until browsing for a new blanket. I have never been diagnosed with any of the problems these blankets are intended to address, but the idea of a constant weighted embrace appealed to me. Maybe that is my undiagnosed issue right there. But I digress. The first thing I felt for was the glass beads but they are almost undetectable. Only after rubbing my fingertips together over and under the blanket was I able to feel miniscule beads. The blanket feels nice by itself. It is soft, durable and of high quality. The blanket and duvet come in a surprisingly beautiful carrying bag. It is roomy, velvety and stitched with the Vintap name. I am not sure I will be moving this blanket around with me and not sure how I will use the bag, but I am keeping it. It also made for a nice unboxing experience which I regret not videoing. The duvet is plush with a geometric pattern and a high quality zipper. I had no problem whatsoever attaching the blanket to the duvet following the instructions that came with it. Bottom line is that this heavy blanket is heavy and it is a blanket. I think Vintap took that basic concept and kicked it up a notch with a luxury, high quality product. Sizing and weight tip: I purchased the 48 x 78 version for my side of our new split king adjustable bed. I am used to a typically-sized blanket that extends over the bed on both sides. This one has about two inches extra on each side (remembering that my side of the bed is a twin). I quickly adjusted to this difference. The blanket lays over my top sheet. I am not any warmer with this blanket than the down comforter I used before it and for that I am glad. I was concerned over warmth. Size-wise, you do not want to order a blanket that is too big for your bed. Because of the unsupported weight hanging over the edge of your bed, the excess blanket will pull the blanket off the bed. My blanket is fifteen pounds. If I recall correctly, that was the only weight available. I looked at many other weighted blankets once I learned of the concept, and many others offer different weights. I do wonder whether I would be happier with more weight. If you are concerned about the fifteen pounds being too heavy, don’t be. I am 5’9” and two hundred pounds and it feels nice to me. My eighty-pound son tried it out and also liked the feel. I am very happy with this product and feel it was a terrific value compared to other brands. Likes-This was my second attempt to find a weighted blanket and it paid off. The first one I tried had all the beads shift to the sides which defeated the purpose of a weighted blanket. This one stays in place and the minky duvet is super soft. The minky cover keeps me warm.Dislikes - When I opened the package the first thing I noticed was numerous strings all over including the zipper from the stitching that should've been cut off. It didn't make for a good presentation. There were so many leftover strings in the zipper that I couldn't open it up. I should've took pics, but I was excited to try it out. The corner tie loops are very small and you can barely fit your finger through them to get the duvet tie through it. The ones in the middle are sewn on in a criss cross pattern which opens the loop up for ease in feeding the duvet tie through it. There is some shifting with the minky duvet cover and it takes a little effort to shake it out. I wish there was a summer duvet cover either included or that you can buy separately. The minky cover is too warm for summer weather and I don't want to get the duvet itself dirty and have to wash that frequently. I will search for one to buy for the summer.I would've rated the sleep quality as a 5 if it were not for the duvet & minky cover being to hot for the summer months. We had some crazy weather this week, 73 one day and 45 the next so I had a night to experience the warmer weather with it. If there is any additional duvet covers that are offered, I'd love to know about them.

We got the king size for our bed mostly because it was heavier than the queen size. Out of the box and beautifully crafted bag, it looked amazing and incredibly soft to touch. The included directions made it quite easy and straightforward to attach the duvet cover; these were quite needed because the blanket is truly heavy and may be harder to maneuver than a regular blanket. The straps which tie the duvet to the blanket itself are solid and very helpful (see attached photo). They keep the duvet in place with the blanket so that it doesn't slide and it stays aligned.Getting to using the blanket itself, I do want to emphasize once again that it is incredibly soft and feels very satisfying to touch. It does help a lot with falling asleep when going to bed or just for a midday nap because it makes me feel more relaxed and comforted, and allows me to ignore any small problems I might be thinking of. It's almost like a soft friend comforting your anxiety when you just want to relax and sleep. Sometimes when I arrange it in a certain way, it feels like a great and gentle pressure massage.Another thing that I really appreciate this blanket for is that I do not sweat in it like I used to in another regular blanket. I didn't know any of the materials were breathable before getting it, but even now that I checked the description again I find it hard to believe that I feel so warm and comfortable, yet I don't sweat in it. I bet it will be great for use even during the summer without necessarily having the AC running like crazy.With all these in mind, I believe this is a great blanket whether you get it for yourself, or as gift for a kid or an adult. It's probably not a must-have item or essential, but it will make about a third of your life (the third that you are sleeping) incredibly comfortable.
